Aleks ~

I ignored the announcements at assembly, naturally. But I was scanning the crowd of heads before me, instead of daydreaming off.

I was trying to find that new girl I had spotted earlier. For some reason, she had stayed on my mind. I found her eventually, same side of the hall as me.

The chairs split in the middle of the hall giving a narrow walkway. She sat three rows ahead of me, her beats still on her neck.

"Dude, who're you looking at?" Jesse inclined his head slightly toward me and whispered.

"What?" I asked.

"You're grinning really hard." Jesse smirked. "So who're you looking at?"

"Nobody." I shrugged my shoulders.

"Oh... Okay." Jesse smirked and pulled away.

Then it got interesting.

"So, I would like to introduce the new children." The Principal, Mrs Kallis said smiling. "If they would please come up."

My eyes found her immediately. She tensed and for a split second my heart shrank with nerves in case she didn't reclaim her spot on stage.

But a blonde next to her shoved her and she got up reluctantly and slowly. She walked to the end of the stage next to a red haired girl.

Mrs Kallis began calling out the names of the newbies in order. There were about 10 of them.

"...Harry, Jane, Allison, Axle, Fern and Fallon." Mrs Kallis finished the only bit I was listening too.

So her name was Fallon. I didn't know what to make of it. What was the significance Fallon had to any of the other girls? She was amongst the new ones and yet I had managed to pick her out and not the others.

"Oh. So it's one of the newbies." Troye muttered from the other side of me.

"What?" I asked.

He nudged his phone lightly in his lap. And Jesse nudged his on the other side of me.

"I think Aleks might have a crush on a newbie." Jesse laughed softly.

"Hey don't be so mean Jesse." Troye whispered grinning. "At least he's gotten over his fictional characters and decided to love something a little more... Real."

They both sniggered and I couldn't help smiling.

"I don't have a crush okay? I just saw her on the way here." I said laughing as people started filing out the hall.

I didn't look for Fallon as I left. I didn't care.
