Chapter Seven: Hard Working

Philip started to eat a cupcake, Eacker was reading what he wrote since he was gone, eating one, too. Philip is actually starting to see a side of Eacker he never knew about. "Hey, Philip, why ya' starin' at me?" Eacker asked. Philip shook his head, blinking a couple of times. He snapped out of his thoughts. Eacker stood behind him, Philip looked up at him, still in his seat.

"U-Uh, sorry, I was zoning out, hahah..." he turned back to his pages. Eacker set down the papers on his desk, reading what Philip was working on, now.

"....hey, not bad... I was thinking of how we could encourage people to use recycling bins, too." he suggested.

"Ah, that's a good idea, too." Philip started to write that down.

"Philip, you have dark circles under your eyes..." Eacker said.

"Hahah, this is nothing... I've stayed up for three weeks before just trying to figure out a lot of math problems." Philip chuckled, smiling. Eacker blinked a couple of times, he was hard-working, just like his father. Eacker hesitated, more than once; slowly wrapping his arms around Philip. Philip's eyes widened in surprise, a light-red blush spreading across his cheeks.

".....w-what are you doing..?" he asked, darting his eyes, now.

"Shhh, just go with it." Eacker said, closing his eyes. Philip looked back down at the project, blushing a brighter red. Wait. He was blushing. Did he have feelings for him? Did he like-like him? His whole face turned bright-red, now.

"Philip, you okay? Your face is red... you've been working hard and it's your birthday, you should at least sit down and relax." Eacker asked him, sounding concerned. Philip tilted his head up, looking up at him.

"I-I can't just stop because of this day! There's so much more to do." he frowned. Eacker stared into his eyes, emotionless face. He got closer to his face.

"At least for a while...?" he whispered. Philip couldn't stop blushing, no matter how much he wanted it to go away... did he like Eacker that way...?
