Oh my goodness I was super excited to write this! Thanks for the request!

        Black, white, and grey.

That's all James ever saw. He was already twenty two years old and he still hadn't met his soulmate. All he wanted was to see the colors, even if it was only just a glimpse. His best friends Thomas found his soulmate, but it was confusing with him. Thomas had a soulmate, but his just happened to be married to someone else.

It was depressing to think about. Not having your soulmate, but knowing they exists in your life daily. James shook the thought from his head. His shut his brain down from the terrifying midnight thoughts and tried to fall asleep.

He woke up in a cold sweat clutching his white sheets. His vision blurred with blackness as he stumbled to his closet. The door was flung open as James tore through all his clothing. In the deepest pit of his closet he found Sniffles.

Sniffles was his bunny that he'd found abandoned at a park when he was a child. They had patchy fur, long floppy ears, and a ribbon decorating his neck. Sniffles was a comfort source for James when he had nightmares of never finding his soulmate. He snuggled into the bunny and crawled back into his dull grey bed.

BEEP BEEP BEEP

The annoying screech of his alarm clock blasted him in the ears.

"Jesus Christ, why do mornings hate me?" James lazily clicked a button on his digital clock. His warm feet hit the cold wooden flooring, and he groaned. It was 7:30 am and he had to get ready for his job at the local pet store. Groaning and moaning was all James did the entire time he was getting ready. After he checked his phone he gasped.

"Oh God I'm late for work!" He didn't have a car so he had to walk to work everyone gosh darn day. 8:50, and his job started at.... 8:30. Quickly, James jogged until he was red in the face and out of breath. Finally he tugged on the glass door that projected pictures of all the dogs that people can adopt.

A squealish voice boomed from behind the counter
"James Madison, where in the world have you been!?" James rolled his eyes.

"Oh hush up, George!" George King and James Madison had been friends ever since kindergarten when George gave James his Skittles.

It's amazing how easy it is to make friends at such a young age. At one point and time James fell into depression, simply because George wasn't his soulmate. He wished and prayed every night for him to just randomly see the colors with George one day but it never happened. His crush on George had died down since then, but the thought still lingered in the back of his head.

"Make me!" George received a playful punch to the shoulder. Both men chuckled before settling down in the environment.

10:15

James bounced his leg up and down out of pure boredom. He heard the jingling bells of the front door and he immediately perked up.

A young women had entered the store with an intense gaze upon her eyes. She moved around the store, strolling through every single isle. She picked up a basket and started filling it with dog bones, chew toys, squeaky toys, and bacon treats. It took her a good thirty minutes before she happily placed her basket on the checkout isle.

James eyes about fell out of his head. She was the prettiest girl he had ever seen in his life. Her coily hair framed her defined face. Her letterman jacket was a million sizes to big for her, and she wore jeans with patches in them. The letterman jacket had the letter "P" sloppily stitched onto it.

He must have been staring for quite some time because the girl did an awkward cough.

"Hi Ms, did you find everything you needed today?"

"Oh yes! I found everything! My friend Aaron Burr just got a dog today so I decided I would get some stuff for the dog! Oh my gosh it's so cute! Wanna see a picture?" Before James got to answer she had already pulled out her phone and was scrolling through photos of the excitable pug.

While see blabbed adorably about the dog, James scanned her items. She had the sweetest voice to ever come across in the universe. It was soft and passionate, with a small whine to it.

Soon James bagged everything up and said

"That'll be 35.67 dollars ma'am."

"Oh yeah, I have to pay!" A loud snort emitted from George, but James stomped down on his feet to stop him from laughing. The women pulled out two tewentys from her purse and added

"Keep the change!"

It was as if time stopped for this perfect moment to happen.

Their fingertips barely touched before bright colors filled one another's eyes.

This was the kind of stuff he had dreamed about.

"My name is Peggy, by the way." Her cheeks looked flushed with some kind of weird dark color.

"Mine's James..." George gapped at them.

"Are you guys....Are you guys seeing..." he whispered the last part out
"The colors?" Both wildly shook their head before pulling each other into a teddy bear hug.

"It's nice to finally meet you... soulmate!"
James smiled wider then ever before. Finally, after all these years of worrying, he finally met

The One...

Sorry if it's cringey and dumb and short, but here it is!

Requests would be appreciated!
