Chapter 2

I woke up yawning, stretching out my body. Slowly peeking an eye open and lazily tilting my head I saw that it was still early in the morning. Today I woke up happy, today Aiden finds his mate and I can't wait to meet her. I've heard that when you find your mate the world just stops, like your heart flutters at the sight of them. When you see your mate and in this case she's supposed to make your life happier than anyone, you prefer them over your own family. The thought registered and I realized that Aiden would no longer care for me but his mate, but this is what I've always wanted for Aiden to finally be happy he's waited so long for his mate and today is the day he gets to find her

The pack always holds a party to celebrate the day you find your mate, usually at the age of 16 when you reach maturity and the whole pack and neighbouring packs are invited

The party was for Aiden only but I decided to dress up anyway. I was born today too

I walked out of the shower dressed and ready for today. I wanted to head to the mall first and pick up my my brother's other half of his present. He thought the concert tickets was all he's getting. My parents left us huge amounts of money but Aiden always tends to spend his. I wanted to buy Aiden something special since he was my only brither and he's looked out for me all these years. I headed out the door and walked to the bus stop. I'll just get him something small, he never got the chance to buy one but it was our thing, an inside joke from when we were little

The mall was a good hour ride away and when I got there its straight to the jewellers. I skimmed through the assorted jewellery and my eyes landed on the dog tags on display around the counter

"Could I please get that one?" I asked a smile making its way to my face

"Sure, what would you like engraved on it?" the man asked. His nametag said Greg

"Can I please have 'BJEFO'"

Greg gave me a confused look but happily started engraving the tag

I walked out of the store happy about Aiden's gift, I know he'll enjoy it, I always got him a gift like this every year they amused me and him too. Making my way back out of the mall when I suddenly stopped at the food court when I smelled coconut and caramel. Hmmm that smells so good. I snapped my head searching for the smell when my eyes landed on a group of werewolves from the pack, I ignored the smell and swiftly made my way to the exit. The smell probably just came from all the food, nothing suspicious

When I got back to the house my parents car was gone but Aiden's black Mercedes was still sitting in the driveway. I slowly made my way through the front door when I bumped into something hard. I stumbled back and glanced up to see Aiden with his arms crossed over his chest. I hid his gift behind my back

"Abby where have you been?" he yelled making me flinch

"I went for a walk" I kept my gaze down at my feet

"You know I worry every time you're not within eye sight of me" he sighed bringing me into a hug

"Sorry but I don't feel what you feel when I'm away from you"

If only I was a werewolf then we wouldn't be like this, he would let me go freely and not have to worry about my safety. At least by the end if the night he won't have to worry about me but then I'd be left alone to fend for myself. Tonight I'm going to ask my parents if I can leave and get away from this life

"Just tell me next time you leave" Aiden smiled

"I will" I sighed walking away "I'm gonna ask mum if I can leave tonight"
