"You don't understand," Lance tried to reason, tugging his hands through his hair. "It was horrible. He's got a mullet, too. Did I mention the mullet? It's evil."

Lance's friend, Hunk, snorted in front of him. They were sitting on Hunk's bedroom floor, a game of Connect 4 spilled across the carpet.

"Yeah, you mentioned the mullet," Hunk slid a game chip into its slot, frowning and glancing back up at Lance. "A few times."

"I can't help it!" Lance fell back, lying uncomfortably on the shaggy eggshell white carpet. "He just... He just kissed me! With no warning! And now the whole building thinks we're dating!"

Hunk laughed, throwing his head back as Lance propped himself up on his elbows. "It's your fault for keeping Chiquita there. And, of course, for breaking into his room at two in the morning."

"Okay, the room thing isn't my fault." Lance's eyes were hooded, and he slid a blue game piece into the middle slot. "It was dark and I couldn't see very well. And you know why I can't give Chiquita up."

They met eyes, seeming to have a verbal conversation with no words. Hunk smiled sadly, sliding a yellow game chip into the board. Lance's face lit up as he grabbed a chip from his pile, sliding it into the slot third to the left.

"I win!" Lance shouted, throwing his hands in the air. "Boomshot! I connected four! Eat it, loser!"

Hunk did a double take, glancing at the board. "What! No! I slid my thingy into the wrong slot! I was too focused on your life problems!"

Lance laughed, throwing his head back. "Sucks for you, loser!" He held up a capital L with his fingers, shoving his hand in Hunk's face. "I win! I win, I win, I w-"

"Woah," a new voice said, and Hunk and Lance simultaneously turned to see Hunk's friend, Pidge, step foot into the room. Pidge's nose wrinkled, and her eyes flicked between Hunk and Lance, who was frozen in the middle of a victory dance. "It smells like body odor and farts with a sprinkle of depression in here. What happened?"

"I creamed Hunk at Connect 4," Lance gloated, crossing his arms and smiling smugly. Hunk coughed in front of him. "Right after he was sobbing about how a 'cute boy' with an 'evil mullet' kissed him."

Pidge's eyes widened, and she glanced between Lance and Hunk. "Wait, what?"

"Oh, yeah. That, too." Lance rubbed the back of his neck, victory momentarily forgotten. "This guy named Keith Kogane is staying at my apartment-"

"-after Lance smashed his window open." Hunk interrupted, and Lance turned to glare at him, grinding his teeth. "Yes, Hunk. After I smashed his window open. And he, like, you know. Made out with me in order to stop me from getting evicted. It's a long story, really."

Pidge grinned. Lance gulped, not liking the evil glint dancing in her eyes. "Let's go get some coffee, yeah? Lance starts his shift soon, anyway."

Hunk glanced between Pidge and Lance, before shrugging and pushing to his feet. "I could use something to eat. I'm starving."

"Of course you are, Hunk." Lance also got to his feet, brushing past Pidge as he made his way out the door. "Let's go, then."

"Wait, okay, and then he just saluted at you?" Pidge took a swig of coffee, before putting two fingers up to her forehead, swinging out. "Like that? Just a freaking salute?"

"But he made saluting look really cool, though," Lance whined, slumping down in his seat. "It was like a total James Bond move, the way he just... Spun around and shut the door in my face. And, before, he was like 'G'night'. I don't know, you guys." Lance's eyes flicked between his friends. "I think I have a problem."
