Betwixt a manor and vast seas of sand
A child makes her journey to the promised land
This simple soul starves to avert the demise
Of the barren community in which her heart resides

Within a house along a far Eastern shore
A young widow trembles behind her basement door
She is certain that on the other side
Hangs the fleshy vessel of a jaded man's pride

Centuries ago, during a moonless night
The world was stricken by a diabolical might
Indeed, nature holds such potential to behave;
Over such details, men of centuries beyond will rave

The fear of a glacial catastrophe remains steadfast
Though wise men say fearful souls never last
So it is that those who persist and strive
Are the beautiful souls that tend to thrive

An ancient glacier preserved innocence under snow
While a hanged man decayed like so
I beg for a reason not to reflect
Over this anomalous occurrence with respect!

The coming winter will have nothing to show
Save for the children that play in the snow
While beneath their feet under a mountain of ice
Lie those that couldn't pay the price

Some have prophecized that the Ice Age will come
So that the burdened may raise a thumb
Now, can't you see the ocean's shimmer
Or the moon's radiance growing dimmer?

Despite the tragedies that tyrants claim to mend
They will never let the brutality come to an end
But stay hopeful, for all shall soon behold
The beautiful shadows that shine like gold
