"Please." My best friend Katelyn begged. "Just one and I promise you won't ever have to go to another one again!"
I stopped at my locker, putting in the combination, and then taking my books out that I would need for the day. "No." I sighed. "I have a ton of work to do."
Katelyn huffed from the side of me. "Dude, we haven't even gone to first period yet. You can't have work."
I mentally cursed at my lame lie. "Yeah, but I know my classes. They'll give me a ton of work and then I won't have time to attend the party."
"That is why you have the weekend to do that." She explained, rolling her brown eyes.
I bit the inside of my cheek, thinking about what to do. My parents were strict, which meant no parties, no missing curfew, and defiantly no drinking. "Katie, you know my parents. They won't let me."
"That's why you lie, Emberly." She stated as if it was the most obvious thing to do.
I laughed as I shut my locker. "No thanks! I choose life!"
The bell rung, signaling us to go to first period. "Look, just promise me you'll consider going to the party." Katelyn begged.
I sighed, knowing it was the only way to get her to stop, I agreed.
After a quick goodbye hug, I headed to my English class.

Just as I was about to leave class to go eat lunch with my friends, a familiar red head ran up to me, stopping me in my tracks.
"Emberly!" The preppy red head exclaimed as she grabbed the sides of my arms. "Guess what? You'll never guess it!" She laughed.
Bridget was her name. Bridget McCarthy. The head cheerleader, volleyball star, and gymnastic winner for three years in a row. Not to mention the schools source for gossip. Considering she was the most popular girl in school, she was usually the one who would spread rumors and other things about you, but all in all she was pretty nice. I could see why a lot of guys wanted her.
"What happened?" I laughed, shaking my head slightly.
"Asher Jameson is back!" She squealed.
My smile fell as I took in what she just said.
"Em, didn't you hear me?" She questioned. "Isn't it great?" She smiled her bright smile.
I forced a nod and a slight smile. "Yeah! Yeah, it's great!" I faked my enthusiasm. "Can't believe he's actually back."
"There's a party tonight to welcome him back, it will be at Jake's house. I'll text Katelyn the details! I hope to see you there!" She explained, way too fast for me to catch it all, then walked away.
What the hell? I thought as I walked away.
Asher Jameson, my former best friend. My brother-like figure. My rock. The one who left me when I needed him most. The same one who broke my trust, and so many other things. The one who I can blame for all the walls I've put around myself.
Marching to the table, I threw my bag down and took a seat. Marcus, who sat across from me, leaned back in his chair, examining me. "Well, obviously you have bad news." He stated, leaning back forward as he took as he took a bite of his sandwich.
"Good going Sherlock Holmes, I never thought you would crack that case!" I sarcastically responded, glaring at him.
Marcus just laughed at my response as the rest of my friends just stared at me with wide eyes. I instantly felt bad because they didn't do anything to make me angry. I took out my lunch, trying to cool down before speaking again.
