Something she didn't expect to happen, happened. The one thing forbidden in this world occurred and there was nothing the woman could do about it. She listened to the man she loved vent to her about his worries- about his upcoming coronation. Lucy wasn't one to exactly care about such a thing. Her mother, a woman of noble blood, and her father were living proof that it could work. However, they weren't the next rulers of Draconia. Draconia, the nation of fire, was the most traditional of the kingdoms. Half breeds were considered the same as lower class non-magical peasants, unlike their full- blooded counterparts. That's what she is, a half breed. Something not even her well off merchant father could change.
"Do you think I'll be a good king?" He asked as he lifted his hand to play with her blonde locks. His eyes held doubt and contentment as she tried to relax into his embrace. She shifted uncomfortably and propped herself on her elbow to ask him, "What makes you think you won't be?"
The king to -be sighed and buried his nose into her neck, inhaling the soothing scent she emitted. "I just think Zeref would make a better king, that's all."
"He relinquished his title though to be with the Fairy Queen." She replied softly as she played with his pinkish locks. She wondered if the child inside of her would bear the same trait. Oh she hoped not. She prayed that her child wouldn't look like him. She loved him so much, but what they did- what they're doing is taboo. Yet, they couldn't help it.
They loved one another.
"He did, but still," He said with a sigh. " I think he'd be a better king because he's a natural at it. Remember how we met? Have I ever really seemed the type to rule a whole country? I'm the second son for a reason."
Lucy threw her head back and replied, "Yet, here you are."
Her lover pulled away to look at her with nothing but love. "I love you, ya know that?"
She smiled and pinched his cheeks. "Pretty informal for a prince, Your Highness."
He rolled his eyes and replied, "Only for you and Ice Freak."
She snorted and gently push him away to adjust her body once again. "Still, Natsu. What would people think if their king calls the future king of the Ice Kingdom 'Ice Freak?'"
"They would think I'm amazing." He huffed out, before rolling on top of her. She gazed at his scarred cheek from a previous battle Draconia had been thrusted into and carefully traced it with her nimble thumb. "I love you." She said with a small smile. Whether he knew it or not, this would her last moment with him.
Her final goodbye.
