there's two of these, the next one is also a snippet cos I apparently can't form coherent concepts lately lmao anyway enjoy!

It's been a few days since she last looked at the mirror, she has been avoiding the thoughts that are connected to it, focusing on giving snapper the best articles she could produce and focusing on National City's safety.

Alex has tried talking to her about it, saying that bottling things up are never good and was never Kara's strong suit. and though she agrees she's persistent on letting it go, saying that she was just overwhelmed and shocked when she blurted the words out,

"I know how much your job and being Supergirl means to you, Kara but drowning in them won't help,"

"please just drop it, Alex. Let's go another round... Please." Alex reluctantly switches the meter inside the sparring room so that she has equal footing with the hero.

"Just a few days ago you were so sure you wanted to tell her,  what changed?"

Kara sighed, dropping the fists in front of her and walking off towards the meter to shut it off, the minimal effects of the red sun disappearing. she hears Alex's foot steps coming near her as she sat down on the edge of the platform and put her face in her hands,

"I don't know, Alex, I just-- I don't think I'll be able to function well with this hanging around in the air, what if she doesn't feel the same way? I can't let feelings get in the way of my work. Snapper is already throwing tons of it at me as it is, and with--" her hands flying everywhere gesturing at her costume, frustration welling up inside of her like a bubble about to explode, or a ticking time bomb

Alex looks at her for a minute then hugs her, rubbing her back as she leans her head on her sister's, "hey, we'll work this out, okay? and I'm not trying to get your hopes up but have you seen the way she looks at you?"

"Lena Luthor," J'onn says sternly when Kara asked how they'll be able to get their hands on the kind of tech they needed. The mirror is still a mystery to them, the portal they used to jump through dimensions has malfunctioned and Winn is about to lose his mind trying to fix it,

they've already established who's side she's truly on, with helping the entire alien race by foiling her mother's plan to exterminate them with her weapon, to testifying against her in court, it's pretty clear that her heart is in the right place despite what her name may imply, and Kara will always step in and remind them that whenever they so much as think of accusing her of something,

always armed with the line "She's nothing like her family, she's just trying to do good in this world, I trust her"

"oh, well I'll--"

"I'll do it,"

"no, Alex, it's fine I'll talk to her about it,"

Alex gave her a meaningful look, eyebrows raised, "alright then,"

It's a quick flight from the DEO headquarters to L-Corp, of course it also helps that she has flown there many times before and probably knows how to fly there with her eyes closed,

Lena is busy, as always, at her table, paper work in front of her

she lands as softly as she can on the balcony but somehow Lena still managed to hear her, turning around with a smile, and as stressed as she is about meeting the CEO today she can't help but return it,

"Miss Luthor,"

"Supergirl, why the sudden formality? and here I thought we've established a friendship already" her name lingers in her lips for a moment, as if Lena's assessing it, but why? she laughs at her little quip but Kara can hear a slight change in her tone, she sounded hurt, I guess she didn't really know why she just called Lena so formally for no reason

"I'm sorry, Lena, my mind is just everywhere lately, anyway--"

"is something wrong?" she bites her lower lip, she's here for DEO, for work, not to rant about her problems to a friend, and the best part of it all is, she's her problem, but the way Lena asked, so full of concern, her eyes not looking away from her as they stand in front of each other on the balcony,

"no, y-yes, I'm fine," she caught herself right on time, trying to find the perfect words to stray away from the subject, "I need to talk to you about something, I need your help, Lena"

Lena squints, at first she thought it was because of the sun in front of her but then she said, "you're lying," sadness evident in her voice,

Kara's eyes widen,

"but I'm guessing we have business to attend to right now?" the Super nods not really knowing where this is going,

"then it can wait, but I know something's wrong, Supergirl, just know my office is always open for you, I'd imagine it must be a bit lonely in the sky with only the stars as your company," Lena smirks but her eyes tell a different story.

A flash of worry, but it ends too soon before Kara can even question if it was real.

She shrugs, "It can be."

maybe you could help with that? Is what she actually wants to say.
