simon

i ran as fast as i could through the rain to the nearest shop.

i needed them.

i urged the feeling of toxic smoke in my lungs.

so i smoked.

i lit the cigarette and placed it between my lips as i inhaled the lethal vapour that destroyed my once healthy lungs.

when i got back home, i slipped my phone out of the pocket of my drenched hoodie and dialed josh's number.

"hey simon!" he said in bad quality, since the signal was weak.

"josh," i choked out between sobs, "i know you just left but could we-"

"i'll be there in five," he interrupted me, sounding worried.

"thank you," i cried before he hung up.

"what happened?" he said as he pulled me into a comfortable embrace.

i buried my neck deeper into his shoulder and relaxed in his arms.

"callum," i started as i studied his face which was now plastered with a confused expression.

"callum airey, your best friend,"

"he's my ex."
