kim taehyung ran a hand through his crimson red hair as he stood in the shadows of the lively night club while he waited to finally be able to leave.

he stirred the drink in his hand with the little thin mixer, bringing up the cold glass to his lips.

this wasn't really his scene; sweaty bodies grinding against one another to the loud pounding of music that everyone was too drunk to even remember the words to.

his eyes scanned the crowd of older men throwing cash at the almost nude women dancing on poles and throughout the dance floors of couples —at least for the night— trying to find his best friend jungkook, who he had lost only minutes upon their arrival in the packed, overfilled place.

"a-ah, excuse me?" feeling a small hand grasp his jacket, he turned around.

taehyung's eyebrows rose as he came face to face with what he had presumed to be a woman, but was actually a short male.

"yeah?" he tried to yell over the sound system just a few feet away from them.

"have you seen a younger guy with gray hair anywhere?" the poor boy's distressed eyes searched frantically through the room.

taehyung brought his drink back up to his mouth to take a long drink. "just saw him."

surrounded by dozens of others, he had managed to spot his best friend with the male he figured that the boy was looking for.

taehyung stirred his drink some more as the black haired male followed his gaze and took his bottom lip in his teeth, his worried eyes softening to sadness.

"hyung-"

the boy was about the go over to them, but before he even managed to take a step closer, their lips met in a rushed manner.

the boy's mouth fell open as he watched the love of his life openly make out with a stranger in front of him.

"sucks, doesn't it?"

jimin tore his stare away to meet the empty emotionless eyes of the taller who he completely forgot he had joined near the back bar area of the club.

"i'm sorry? what sucks?"

"loving someone who will never love you back."

the words rang even louder through his mind than the high energy american song currently making his head pulse in an upcoming headache.

his brown eyes turned back towards the two but they were no where to be seen, yet it was easy to figure out that they had left together completely forgetting about both boys they came with.

"need a drink?"

jimin looked up at the younger and nodded, taking the cherry flavored alcohol from him and letting it pour down his drying throat.

it burned, but not as much as his heart did.

both strangers stood in silence, but taehyung was the first one to break it.

"sometimes love isn't for everyone."

jimin scoffed, not appreciating the harsh words. "wow, fucking thanks."

his frustration was enough to make the other laugh, but at the same time feel the sympathy as if he was looking into a mirror of his own past when he himself believed in a stupid little thing called 'love'.

"some of us just aren't meant to be loved." taehyung took a shot as a bartender sat another in front of him. "but at least there's one thing we can do about it."

jimin tilted his head curiously.

"what?"

taehyung's crimson bangs covered his dark eyes as he looked over at the black haired male hungrily. "we can always pretend."
