Account of Raven Constable, Seros, The Heart of Winter, 1690 C.E.

Regalia's voice rang in my head. 
"Raven secondary, Seros," 

The veil of Glamour shattered as I passed through the archway.
"Step forward."  

 A threshold into the heart of Winter.
"It seems you truly are the progeny of our ideals."

I trudged through the blanketed landscape, pelted by truculent winds.  
"You are strong, steadfast, persevering."

The meeting was over. The orders were given.
"If you still remain true to us, I have a task for you."

The air was cold, gripping me, keeping my instincts sharp and astute.
"Take Wolf's place, become my Constable."

The land was frozen: unrelenting and immovable.
"Show us your worth, your loyalty. Redeem the Ravens."

Wind sped past me. My knees were buried.
"Fly swiftly. Follow Lady Àineia, and your predecessor." 

Blood drops peppered the ground, scarlet eyes upon a frozen facade.
"Fight them, if you must."

Snow buffeted my face, blinding me.
"Be observant, assess their actions."

I could not fear for them.
"Do not be afraid to bear your talons."

I would not fear for them.
"They are desperate, which makes them dangerous.

This was treason.
"I fear what the Summer Envoy may do."  

Wolf had brought her to the Threshold.
"Ensure Winter is protected from their actions."  

And now he was leading her to the Winter Grimoire.
"Do not let their recklessness endanger the Fae."  

Our last source of magic was at risk.
"The fate of this war balances on our actions."  

An ancient guardian protects it.
"The Wolf is talented, as you know."

But could that stop them?
"However, your greatest threat is Àineia's cunning."  

Doubt encumbered me. 
"Think of our future."

My mind carried forward, yet my legs stayed in place. 
"Step aside from the past .

My frozen mind was thawing.
"Protect us, no matter the cost."  

Could I stop them?
"Do this for me, Constable." 

Winter was a hostile abyss.
