Chapter 24.

I lay in Lucians arms, my finger tracing over his bare chest as he embraced me. He felt like home, and it felt like forever since I had spent time with him. This war has taken a toll on our relationship, and it felt like neither of us knew the other. Our relationship had seemed to be on pause, and I didn't want that. He was the first man I had really grown emotionally attatched to, and I wanted him around me. My breakdowns aren't helping the situation, and some nights I wake up and believe I'm still in that prison.

Sheila believes it's the solitude I encountered as a child that made me this way. It was something that couldn't be changed with time, and that I would have to learn to deal with it. Many people help me, and I'm grateful to be able to have people in my life that try to understand me. I still see things, and I still believe that people I'm around are trying to hurt me.

Ever since I had killed Ayana the visions went away. My dad believes it was her that had actually been playing with my mind, but we both know only Lilura really knows how to do that, and she wouldn't do that to me. Our only explanation was that she visited me and tried to make my life hell in any way possible.

"What are you thinking about?" Lucian asked me, trailing his fingertips up my arm and giving me goosebumps.

"I'm so complicated." I muttered, wrapping the sheets around my bare chest as I looked at him. "I see things that aren't there. Lucian I need help."

"We'll try to help you once the war is over, but for now all we can do is just hope for the best." Lucian kissed my forehead lovingly. "For all we know the plan that's taking place may put an end to everything."

"I hope you're right." I kissed his lips and sat up. "Come on, it's almost dawn and we have to be at the lake by then."

"The place where you killed the legendary Ayana." He grinned cheekily. "It will now be a landmark for the end of the most devestating war in history for our kind."

"Or it'll be the bloodiest battle so far." I grabbed a tight black sweater and jeans and slipped them on over my undergarments. "Come on, lets go."

"One more?" Lucian pointed to his lips, and I couldn't help but give a small smile. Slowly, I leaned over and gave him a soft and long kiss on his lips.

"There." I whispered, stroking his cheek. "Satisfied?"

He shrugged his shoulders and gave me a wink before tossing the covers completely off his naked body. He gave me a wink, but I rolled my eyes and laughed before putting on my winter boots. The blankets were later thrown over my head and I couldn't help but laugh more.

This is what I wanted the most. I wanted normalcy.

"One day it'll get better." I looked over at Oliver who had spoken, his brown eyes baring into mine. "Just you wait, One Cent."

"When are you going to get over that little nickname?" I chuckled, shoving his arm roughly.

"What?" Oliver snorted, brushing his long hair out of his eyes. He hadn't had the time for a proper haircut, and his signature short styled hair was no where to be found. "You are Penny right?"

"Yes, I am." I rolled my eyes and turned my head back to the clearing.

The sun hadn't risen yet, but I could see the faint orange glow just below the horizon. The sky still held stars, and they tinkled onto the frozen ice. It felt like we were walking on a galaxy, because the entire mildly florescent lake was like a mirror. I could see every star that moved across the sky, and I could see every stray shooting star that appeared.
