I was just a child, I shouldn't have seen how harsh the world is, and yet I saw it all. Probably more than any adult would ever see in their entire lifetime.
They said I was lucky to be alive, that I should be grateful and rejoiced. But I'm starting to wonder if I was better off ending up similar to my parents.
"Those unfortunate people," they said, "Imagine what the girl feels like."
I could almost feel the pity arising from them. The thing is, I didn't feel anything, and that hasn't changed after 20 years. So, I guess I shouldn't blame them when they sent me away.
