Hoss and Stella Bumpus -- yes, those are their real names -- earn their living doing bluebirds and rugs, as well as cooking scrumptious meals. Hoss was usually called Humpo, so that people wouldn't confuse him with the horse that lived next door, Hossy Horse. Hossy liked to follow Swan across the stage and eat a faux turkey on command. Swan was Sally Swan, who did beautiful tiptoe ballet, having been taught by Nancy and Sluggo. Hossy was married to Tina Turkey, and so refused to eat her relatives. But he liked to eat faux turkey, which still made Tina uneasy.
