"You can turn around now. They went down another hallway." Dylan said after a few minutes of silence.

"Oh, cool. Well, I'll see you second period." I nodded and walked off before he could bid me a similar farewell.

-

Once the bell ending first period rang, I packed up my things and left the room. I was expecting Ashton to be outside the room so he could walk me to my second class 'cause that's what Luke always did but my heart fell a little when I saw he wasn't there. I guess I shouldn't expect all that cliché couple shit anyway.

As I made the walk to my class alone, I hand gripped my arm and pulled me across the hall and into a dark room which, once the light was turned on, I saw to be the janitor's closet.

"Luke?" I asked.

"Hey, Avery." He smiled.

"Why'd you pull me into a janitor's closet?" This reminds me of the time when he dragged me into the classroom to pitch that ridiculous plan to me so long ago.

Maybe this was the moment I've been waiting for for so long. Maybe it's been eating away at him and he's finally ready to confess his true feelings for me. And after he does, we have a steamy make out session to show each other just how much we care about one another.

"I don't really have a lot of time to talk here but can we talk later? Like can I come over or we could meet somewhere else? It's pretty important." He rushed.

Oh...so it's not what I was hoping for at all.

"Is it about you not being sure if you love Brooke? Look, Luke, I already told you-"

"It's not about that. Just please agree to talk to me later."

"Okay, fine." I nodded. "I guess you can come over after school, but wait like half an hour before you do." I don't want Ashton thinking I betrayed him and have Luke over my house again. I mean I kind of am but on a small scale. Apparently whatever he wants to talk about is important.

"Thanks." He smiled. He stepped around me and cracked the door open wide enough to peek through it. "I'm gonna go ahead and leave and you can come out a few seconds after me. The hall is clearing up so it shouldn't bring too much attention."

"You're acting as if we had just made out or something." I chuckled.

Oh God how I wish.

He chuckled, said he'd see me later, and slipped out of the closet. I did as he said and waited before following suit and heading to my English class.

What could possibly be so important that he needed to talk to me? And then why was he acting so secretive about it? Why did he have to drag me into a closet and couldn't just speak to me in the hallway like a normal person? Well whatever it is, it must be big. He wouldn't act like a paranoid idiot if it wasn't, right?

I took my seat next to Dylan and took out my pen and notebook to take notes. I scribbled down the bullets every time she switched the slides and afterwards I put my pen down to listen.

I looked over at my best friend who was making stupid faces at me and caused me to giggle.

My teacher spoke up. "Well I didn't realize Beowulf's Final Battle was so funny, Avery. Care to explain what's making you chuckle?"

I cleared my throat and shook my head. "No, ma'am." I swear this lady has it out for me.

"One more sound from you and you'll be spending your time after school in detention." She said and then turned back to the board to teach.
