"Unsettled isn't the word I would use but I thank you Lyra." Remus' hand grasped my own, engulfing my tiny fingers in his palm as he looked down at me earnestly. "I promise I won't do anything like that to a Source again. If I find another, I'll guard her with my life, not use her as bait."

I smiled and squeezed his rough hand. "I'll hold you to that."

Remus left me after that and trundled back inside. I knew why he left so quickly. Grigore was coming back. I could scent his magic, taste his song. It warmed me instantly, whispering over my skin with the memory of his recent lustful demands of me. Despite having me so much, he still hadn't had his fill.

I waited patiently, watching Wilson, Nanat and Lorry play down the road. Some people wondered passed with their heads bowed against the growing wind and snow and soon Grigore was next to me, dark eyes locked onto my face, burning over me possessively.

I glanced up at him shyly, taking in his sensual features in that one glance. "How did the search go?"

Grigore held up a small ragged rock, black from soot. "I found it." He said simply. "We leave shortly."

My heart stuttered at his announcement. Since the vampire coven had been destroyed, I had grown calm and peaceful in Remus' home, but I had known that wouldn't be for long. Sorin had to be found and Grigore had to face him. I still didn't know how to keep him safe.

"Really?" I echoed anxiously.

"Really." Grigore said firmly and turned the stone curiously. "The ward on this stone was quick to unravel. He's moved a little to the north and west a month ago."

I stared at the stone. "But the sun will start to go soon."

"I know, but we've got some catching up to do." He said, letting his mouth find mine softly. "As soon as this is done, we can roam about at your pace." He promised deeply.

The moment I nodded, smiling at him weakly, Grigore swung away from me and entered the house, leaving me fearful about losing him when I'd only just got him.

"Are you sure you have to go now?" Nanat whined from the table as Lorry cried beside her.

"We have no choice." I said and smiled at the pair. "We were only passing through."

Nanat puffed out her cheeks moodily and Lorry wailed harder.

"The winter snows will come quickly though and travelling further north at this time will be hard. You'll be sleeping out in the wilderness more than under a roof and storms will happen often." Lynda said warily as she helped me tie my cloak firmly.

"Grigore will keep us warm."

Lynda frowned unhappily but nodded all the same. "You two take care of yourselves then. Don't get into any trouble."

"And if you head back this way our home is open to you." Wilson added as he lifted up Lorry to cradle her in his arms.

Remus watched from the corner as Grigore gathered up his pack. I hadn't seen him dressed like that in a while now. He was fully dressed in furs and leather with his pack and Ursus tied to his waist.

I smiled warmly when Lynda hugged me and Jen awkwardly shook my hand. Grigore didn't say a word as he headed outside and I followed him, waving at Remus. He broke his tired frown with a smile.

"Don't get yourself killed." Remus asked. "Sources aren't so common anymore."

I nodded. "Be careful with the wolf."

"He won't be back for a long time but I will be."

I paused as I stared at Remus and his old exhausted eyes. "Call Grigore and I if he shows up. We'll help."
