Luke is unsure what to say. I finish cleaning my face and go over to where Lucy is sleeping, pull out my sleeping bag and go to sleep next to her. Before I lay down I look over to where the void is. It still seems closer than it should be, and me and Lucy are the closest to the void. I get an uneasy feel in the pit of my stomach.

I choose to just ignore it and lay down next to Lucy,  I'm probably just being paranoid.
"Hey Cassie" I hear when I lie down.
"Hey Luce" I say in return.  Neither of us are looking at each other, we are both looking up at the sky.
"So about what Erik said.." she says and she reminds me of the 12 year old her.
"Yep" I reply
"Your not really going to go are you?" She questions worry laced in her words.
"I don't know if I really have a choice Luce" I say sadly.
"But you are going to try to stay aren't you?" She questions.

I think for a moment. This group is big and has supplies. And from what I've seen as least some of the guys here are really nice, the group seems to treat her as a little sister. "That's not how we do things" Erik's voice echos in my head.
"We don't have to kill to survive" I remember Luke saying. Lucy is safe here, well as safe as you can be in this world.. And she doesn't have to see or experience the violence I've had to for four years.  Maybe it would be better if I left..I definitely can't take her with me, I would never make her go through what I went through. And Erik certainly doesn't want me to stay here. Maybe if I go it would be better. Well better for Lucy and that's all that matters.

"I don't know" I say back to her. I hear her sit up and I can feel her looking at me. I can't bring myself to look her in the eyes.
"What do you mean you don't know?" she utters.
"Maybe..maybe it would be better if I go" I say so quietly it's barely audible, but I know she hears.
"I can't believe you..after all this time apart, all the time we've missed? And you want to leave just like that? You can't wait to get away from me can you?"
"Lucy I-"
"Save it Cassie, I can't even look at you right now" she says and takes her sleeping things with her as she goes and few meters away from me so she can sleep alone.
I turn around so I'm not looking at her. I see Erik starring at me about 10 meters away. He probably heard me and Lucy's conversation.  He looks at me with a mix of emotions. I can see his angry, confused and is that  sympathy? I'm too tried to care or deal with his crap at the moment. I sigh and turn my head so I'm looking at the sky. My eyes start to close as exhaustion takes over.
