I was out of it at that moment. My little sister was being called up onto the

Stage, being introduced, and finally, they asked her whether or not she would

like to accept her position as Girl tribute of District 4. I'm begging her

through my mind, telepathically telling her not to bother, not to take so much

of a risk, not to be such an idiot.

"I-I accept my place as Tribute." she says, smiling into the crowd.

I sink to my knees, my hands cover my now streaming eyes, and then I remember

where I am. I quickly pull myself up, and make myself look presentable. Already,

Archi has walked towards the other glass ball, and the thousands of strips of

paper engulf his hand, until he finds another piece of paper. The words, "Rolo

Thomason" Escape his lips, and I see a small twelve year old boy make his way up

to the stage, shaking and shivering. He obviously won't accept his place, so I

change the position of my feet, getting ready to sprint to the stage.

sister, my baby sister Cherish. I don't want to win. I want Cherish to win.

I run fast to the stage, and look at Rolo.

"Kid, that's my sister, please let me protect her."

"O-ok. I choose him!" he says, pointing to me. A couple of Peacekeepers hoist me

up onto the stage, and I look a Cherish. She has an angry look on her face. This

isn't going to be good.

"Ah! A fine boy tribute! What is your name, son?" Archi says, putting a hand on

my shoulder.

"Kai Sandmen" I say clearly, and I hear a few gasps from the audience, who have

know figured out that Cherish and I are siblings.

"Wow! I think this is new! Two tributes from the same family! What an honourable

family!" Archi says, oblivious to the actual fact as to why I volunteered.

The Anthem starts to play, and we are basically bashed inside the Justice

Building. I've never been here before, except for a school trip once. It's a

very grand place, gold pillars and marble floors. We are escorted into separate
