"Why do you need my phone Kestrel?" He asked, his voice was lower now. He'd used that voice before killing Richter.

"I..." I caught myself before I could stutter. "I don't need it anymore," I smiled and shoved his chest (no, I wasn't really trying to cop a feel, although I did and whew)

"I can't tell you," I blurted.

"Why not?"

"Because."

"Because," he repeated.

"You don't tell me everything," I pointed out. He was so close.

"Irrelevant," he replied and dropped his gaze to my lips.

"I.. it's not?" I said.

He shook his head. His hair was a bit longer now, almost falling into his eyeas. He looked like he'd been through shit but I couldn't stop myself from focusing on other parts. Like the curve of his lips, the shape of his eyes.

Wasn't he attracted to me too? Not that I looked like the prettiest girl on earth right now... My gaze wandered to his lips. What would they feel like against mine? God why didn't he kiss me already?!

His lips moved. Wait, did he say something? Oh no. Did I say something?

"Huh?"

"You didn't realise, did you? You said something weird," he said.

"What?"

"Kiss me," he said.

"Okay."

"Wait, what—?"

But he never got a chance to finish his sentence because I still had the truth serum in my system and I stood up on my tiptoes, looped my arms around his neck and pressed my lips against his.

I probably would have done it without the truth serum anyways.

It was the first time I'd caught him by surprise. His body tensed, his killer's instinct taking over and for a fraction of a second I thought he was going to either push me off or kill me. Instead his arms wrapped around my waist and he kissed me back, taking my weight and nearly lifting me from the ground. His lips were soft and warm and my veins sizzled with electricity. It felt so good. I was breathless and I didn't want to stop. Oxygen was overrated if you think of it anyway. Speaking of overrated things...

Why did I kiss him again?

Because it feels so fucking good.

Makes sense. Wait. No, that's not the reason.

His cellphone, you idiot!

My fingers trailed down his front and I felt the hard, warm planes of his muscles. It was a lot harder to focus When he was kissing me like that.

When my hand dipped into his pocket he jerked away and smirked.

Uh oh.

His hand wrapped around my wrist and pulled it away before he took out his cellphone. "Nice try, Kes, but I invented that one."

"I don't know what you're talking about," I dutifully denied. Kes? Was that my name or something? Why did I feel so light headed?

"I'm hurt. You only kissed me so you could get my phone?" His smirk grew wider.

It was cute how he made me want to kiss him one second and slap him senseless the next.

"Pretty much," I lied.

"Liar," he sang.

I burst out laughing.

"Okay, let's ignore the irony there," he relented. "Seriously though, why do you want my phone so badly?"
