Runaway

Chapter 5

They finally got the lighthouse at about 9:13. It closed at 10 so they would have to hurry.
"Alright come on you guys." They got out of the car and walked in to the light house. They walked up a huge spiral staircase all the way to the top. When they got up there they looked around.
"The view is amazing but what are we looking for?" Zay said.
"She said something about stars, right?" Farkle said as he looked around.
"Yeah. It was something about how the stars looked or something." Lucas said poking at some old boxes. Finally Farkle stumbled upon an old telescope. He looked through it, and in between the lens and holder there was a note. This one seemed more unorthodox. It was kinda crumbled and not folded very well.
"I know this one seems a bit faster than usual. A man accidentally almost killed me by accidentally knocking me down the stairs. So in compensation he gave me a free night at his super fancy hotel. All you need to do is go there. Riley can say she's me and you'll get a great suite. The next note will be waiting for you there. It's called the Ivy hotel in Baltimore, Maryland. -xoxo Maya." Farkle read.
"Awesome I was starting to get a bit tired." Riley yawned.
"At a five star hotel too. This is once in a lifetime!" Zay yelled.
"It'll take a while to get there and it's already late so let's head off." Lucas said as he began to descend down the stairs. Farkle gave the note to Zay and he put it with the rest. They drove for another hour and got to the fancy hotel. When they arrived Riley walked in and smiled at the concierge.
"Maya hart." Riley said.
"Of course." She had a bell boy take their bags and show them to their room. It was huge. It was about the size of Farkles place if that helps any. There were four bedrooms, three bathrooms and a giant flat screen in the living room.
"I'm headed to bed since we need to get an early start tomorrow." Lucas said as he disappeared into his room and so did Zay.
"Night Farkle." Riley said as she smiled at the boy. She walked back into her room just as the rain started. The thunder freaked her out a little but she thought she was fine. That was until she could've sworn she heard someone walking around outside. Her room was right beside the entrance and she could hear what was happening in the hall. It sounded like the person was pacing and it was starting to freak her out. Finally she stood up and walked out into the dark hallway. She saw light coming from underneath the door and a shadow as well. She saw a slip of paper in the floor. She quickly bent down and grabbed it. Just then the pacing stopped and the shadow was right outside the door. She walked towards the door as quietly as possible and looked through the peephole. All she could see was a dark colored hoodie. Suddenly the person put their hand over the peephole and she quickly took off to Farkles room.
"Farkle! Someone is outside. They were just pacing and they have been doing it for so long! I looked out there and they were in a dark hoodie! And oh my god Farkle! I think it's what Maya ran away from." She whisper yelled as she sat on top of him and shook him.
"Riley you are talking crazy go back to bed." He said wiping his eyes.
"Please just check, Farkle please? For me?" She pleaded. He looked up and saw her desperate brown eyes.
"Alright fine." He said as he wiped his face. He slung the girl off his lap and stood up. He opened up his door quietly and started walking down the hall. Riley searched for his hand in the darkness and finally latched on. He squeezed it for reassurance as they got to the door. He too saw the shadow and he leaned to look through the peephole. Just then the figure took off and started running. Farkle got ready to open the door as Riley pulled him back.
"Let's just go back to bed. We don't know who we are dealing with." She said quickly as she pulled him back again. He nodded his head and they walked back to his room. He knew after this Riley would sleep with him. She hated sleeping alone when she was scared. He laid down and Riley cuddled up beside him. Her arm laid over his chest and his under her head and on her back.
"Goodnight Riley." He said as he kissed her forehead.
"Night Farkle." She replied gingerly. In the morning Farkle noticed another body was in his bed laying on top of him. He then remembered what happened last night with the figure. He checked the alarm clock on the side of his bed, 10 am. He may as well go ahead and wake her up, even if he didn't want to.
"Riley, come on it's time to get up." He whispered to her.
"Five more minutes?" She begged as she scooted in even closer to him.
"Riley, come on." He whispered again.
"Oh come on." She asked pulling her body as close as possible to the boy beside her. He could feel her warm breath against his neck and decided to listen to her wishes. It felt so good to have Riley Matthews cuddled up to him like this. While she slept for an extra five minutes her twirled her hair around.
"Alright sleepy head it's time to get up!" He said.
"But,"
"No buts. I gave you five minutes." Absentmindedly he stood up and pulled off his shirt to get the other one on. Riley was still laying in bed like a starfish. He walked over to her and poked her.
"Riley come on." He said. Suddenly she grabbed his arm and pulled him down on top of her on the bed. She began laughing hysterically.
"I'm gonna get you Riley Matthews." He said as he sat on top of her and began to tickle her.
"Farkle I'm sorry, please stop." She laughed.
"I can't do that I'm sorry." He said continuing. The door then swung open and there was Zay.
"Well, um I'll let you get back to, whatever this is." He stuttered as he backed away. They both got off the bed and walked into the living room.
"Well, that was awkward." Zay said.
"We weren't doing anything, i was just tickling her." He said as he shrugged.
"Uh huh." Lucas said eyeing Farkle and Riley taking in Riley's bed head and farkle without a shirt on. He was slightly more masculine than Lucas would've thought nor Lucas would've ever wanted to know. He shuttered slightly and looked back at the tv.
