Riley had packed all of last night and was excited to find her best friend. She checked the clock, it was 12:02 they were two minutes behind.
"Hey Riley you ready?" Farkle said walking through her door with his duffle bag.
"Just about." She said as she slid on her converse. He walked over and grabbed her bag and slung it over his shoulder.
"Alright let's go." He said.
"Alright mom dad we're leaving now." She said hugging her parents.
"Alright sweetie love you." Her mom said sweetly.
"Take care of her." Corey said to Farkle.
"I wouldn't let anything happen to her." He smiled at her.
"Riles if we don't go now they might leave us you know how impatient Lucas is." He said tapping his watch.
"Alright yeah let's go Farkle." She said opening the door for him and following him out. They shortly made their way down the stairs to see Lucas leaning against his truck.
"Took you long enough!" Lucas said as he tapped his watch.
"Dude chill. We are literally only like 2 minutes behind schedule." Riley said patting his chest and getting in the back seat. He half scoffed half chuckled.
"Cut her some slack she's doing a lot better than I thought she would." Zay said as he slid in the passengers seat.
"I agree. Don't worry the notes will still be there." Farkle said as he got in the other side of the back seat.
"Maybe." Lucas whispered as he climbed in the front seat and started up the engine. They hoped this wouldn't take long, they had promised to have Riley back in 7 days and mr. Matthews wasn't very forgiving.
"So to liberty statue garden right?"Lucas asked.
"Yep got the note right here." Zay said. They had put Zay in charge of watching the notes. They wanted him to feel like just as much of this team as they did. They showed up at where the ferry was in about 10 minutes and we're off to Liberty island. Farkle and Riley watched the water as they stood on the ferry.
"Do you think we will find her Farkle?" She asked.
"Of course I do." He said intertwining their hands and squeezing hers slightly for comfort.
"Thanks." She said slumping into his shoulder. After the 15 minute ferry ride it was time to get off.
"Hey Farkle."
"Yeah."
"Why have you been holding my hand this whole time?" She said lifting up their intertwined hands. He pulled away quickly and looked at the ground. He gave a small nod to her and then sped walk past her, obviously embarrassed. She sighed hard and walked beside Zay on to Liberty island.
"Alright so it said it was at the Liberty island sculpture park." Farkle said still not making eye contact with Riley.
"Alright so let's go there." Lucas said.
"That's the problem it's not a specific area really. It's the whole island."Riley said.
"Oh." Lucas said.
"I suggest we split up and look around for anything on the two different sides. I'll take Lucas." Zay said as they walked to the one side of the island. Riley and Farkle had the side with the actual Statue of Liberty in it.
"Well I suppose we should look around." Farkle said awkwardly.
"I'm not mad at you!" Riley blurted out quickly.
"I hoped you weren't." He responded," let's continue shall we?" He asked as he put his elbow out for her to link with and motioned over towards a small statue.
"We shall." She smiled. They looked at the small statue of a man holding the Eiffel Tower.
"Nothing."she said sighing.
"We just got started don't even worry." Farkle said. They looked at a couple of other statue until an older couple came up to them.
"We just wanted to let you two know how cute you are. Right Burt? Burt!" The woman yelled. The mans eyes opened fiercely and he nodded.
"Oh thanks but we aren't really, you know." Riley trailed off, she had never been good at telling people things she knew would upset them. The woman laughed slightly and took Riley hand in hers.
"I'm sure you aren't but I have a knack for knowing when two people should be together. And you young lady should be with that young man." She whispered.
"How do you know though?" Riley asked quietly back while she looked over at Farkle who was trying to make conversation with the old man.
"I just do." The old woman winked at her and waved as her and her husband walked off.
"What did you talk about?" Farkle asked appearing beside her again.
"Don't ask." Riley said as she began to laugh and Farkle laughed with her even though he had no idea what she was laughing at.
"We are so weird you know?" She said as she looked at him wide eyed.
"I know." He laughed again. They walked down a path and at the end there was a man with a book and reading glasses.
"Hey call the guys alright?" Riley said as she walked toward the statue.
"Why?" He asked as he looked at her walk towards the statue.
"Just do it." She replied. So he texted the guys and they said they would be there in like a minute. So they ran all the way to where they were and showed up sweaty and out of breath. Riley was now looking at the statue and was looking at the book he was holding and as she had suspected there was a little note taped to the book.
"I'm glad you all have decided to look for me. The next note will be at the Rho Waterfront Night Club in Trenton New Jersey. They are having a party there tonight ,strictly formal, for the beginning of summer. There is a thrift shop right beside it so you should be able to find something. It start at 5 so don't be late. It's hidden in the dining room. The party will light up your world. I swear.
-xoxo Maya."
"Wow." Riley said after she finished reading it.
"Great. How much money you guys got?" Zay asked pulling out his wallet," I've got 50." He said chuckling.
"Well I've got a platinum card." Farkle said flashing it to everyone sheepishly. Everyone gaped and laughed.
"Alright well it's 1:15 and it will only take about a hour to get to Trenton so I suggest we look at the statue and eat." Zay said licking his lips.
"I agree if we get there too early we will have to sit around forever. I'm gonna run to the gift shop and get one of those cameras." Lucas said as he ran off.
"This is gonna be fun." Riley smiled to Farkle.
"It will." He agreed as he tapped her nose.
"You two are so adorable." Zay said.
"We are just friends." Riley chuckled at him. Farkle dipped his head in agreement,
"Oh right, of course." He said. The two began a short conversation again.
"They shall be Riarkle." Zay whispered.
"Huh Zay?" Riley said turning around.
"Nothing I just said. Where's Lucas with that camera." He finished as Lucas came jogging back with a digital camera. He took the first picture of Rikey and Farkle in front of the tower. The next was of Farkle and Lucas kissing Riley on the cheek. The last was of the three boys standing at the top of the Statue of Liberty.
"Alrighty it's only 1:40 so want to go to the little cafe, because I'm very hungry." Zay said laughing.
"Yeah let's go." Riley agreed as they walked to the cafe. They ordered their food and ate.
"Alright it's 2:30 I think we should head out." Lucas said. They headed towards the ferry and road the 15 minutes back to the mainland. They got in their car and began the drive to Trenton.
