I awoke with a jolt unsure of why I was awake I glanced around letting my eyes adjust to the pitch black around me. It was still late. Quiet mummers sounded from outside almost silent I had to crane over the edge of my bed to hear them. I flung the covers off of me and jumped into my combat boots pulling my vest over my head and grabbing my gun.
It was another speaker.
I crept down the hallway of the abandoned building I called home. The voice got louder and a cry of pain sounded. This was bad if the person was already in pain then the Hinx would jump to the nearest person if not killed first. I hated doing this but it had to be done. Kill one person and ten others survive is the way I looked at it. Lost in my thoughts I had wandered to the front door of the building, well were there would of been a front door if it hadn't been blown to bits when I had first came here. I slowly edged myself down the hall back pressed against the wall and craned my neck to try and see something crossing one foot over the other.
Finally as I stood in the door frame I saw a figure hunched over murmuring secrets to themselves I tried to block out keeping their last thoughts private before I openly ended their life. I cocked the gun making them silence and look up at me. I cringed away from their eyes which were the color of pure gold burning holes into mine. I hated that too, the beauty the Hinx gave us before they ruined our lives and took from us the only thing that made us spreadable from the others.
The person was too weak to stand straight up or they would of already attacked me which was even worse news because the weaker the person the stronger the Hinx. The persons head fell back to the ground as they cried out in pain making my spine shudder. I aimed just as they were taking their last breaths and pulled the trigger...
...but in order for you to understand further I must start from the beginning...
