a month later

i saw her with that same boy everyday as if they were attached to each other.

when i was walking home through the alley and past the back of your house, i could hear your voice.

my first instinct was to run or hide but for some reason i continued walking forward and her voice became louder and louder.

i then saw her, alone smoking while sitting down on the curb. it seemed as if something was wrong or something was bothering her because she kept checking her phone every few seconds.

"are you okay?" i said but my voice only came out as a squeaky whisper. i waited for a response and i was scared to ask a second time because i wasn't sure if she heard me or not.

she didn't look up from her cigarette but replied, "do i know you?"

i could feel my voice shaking and my heart racing, i feared that i would stutter in front of her and make myself look like a fool.

"ne-nevermind." i stumbled as I started backing away from her since she was only a few feet to the side of me.

she looked at me and made eye contact with me. her beautiful face looked like it had a permanent frown as she stared deeply at me.
"wait." she said still looking at me as i was trying to hide.

i started walking faster towards the end of the alley with my back to her pretending as if I didn't hear her.

"fine leave, everyone always leaves anyways." she gave a sad laugh as she checked her phone once more and frowned at the screen.
