Its based about culture and I'm lovin' it!!

What's the meaning of your name?
- Diya. Means a lamp in Hindi. It also signifies light and happiness. And just like a diya I burn to give happiness to others. I just wish I keep up to my name!!!

Where are you from?
- India.  Bangalore, Karnataka to be specific.

Favorite food??
- Chocolates (yes that's my food).
KFCs soo spicy chicken is yummm!! Burger and Noodles and..... Gol gappa and for the healthy foods Roti with paneer.

Favorite outfit?
- Comfy and cool. Mostly jeans and cute tops. Or skirts or gowns or palazzos. Oh wait! For culture, it would be a suit probably, coz I don't like traditional outfits much.

How do you celebrate religious celebrations with family?
- Its difficult to explain but I'll try.
Any Indian will understand what big families (extended ones) we'll have. We all get together and do pooja (prayer) to god by offering so many things. We eat and have fun. And then the younger ones play games and stuff. While Elder ones gossip like hell!!

How do you celebrate birthdays and marriages?
-On birthdays-
Firstly, we go to temple to seek blessings from god and also from parents. Then we distribute sweets and also throw a party at house or a restaurant, with fam and friends, and cut cake and what not and we get gifts!!

Now coming to marriages. Even a three page explanation wouldn't do justice to the Indian Weddings. Its min for three days or max for ten days. Everyone is dressed to kill. There are so many cultural events like Haldi(my fav), pheri, mehendi and some hajib si names I'm not getting. There's also a DJ and we actually do the real wedding, that's tying of Mangalsutra (equal to the western kiss), in morning  6am. And there are so many people, that you'll wonder if half Indian population is present there(and that's saying something really). I can go on still more but this is a short hand.

Favorite song from culture?
- Well, in particular Indian culture we get only god songs and stuff like that.
But we also have awesome Bollywood songs and my fav is 'Ishq Wala Love' and 'Cham Cham' and 'Pehla pyaar'. And from Kannada too I like 'yellhellon hoduwan manase' translates to 'fickle heart'

How many languages can you speak?
- Very few. English, Kannada and Hindi. I can understand Telugu but speaking is bad, same with Tamil.

Your dream wedding?
-I haven't thought much. Something very peaceful. The destination should be beautiful, near water probably. And only my parents, the groom and his parents should be present. I don't want anything fussy like in a typical Indian wedding.

What you love most about your culture?
- The beauty of it. We've a very strong and grand culture. Its our identification and pride. Our culture is very rich and each and every ceremonial we do has a deeper meaning passed on through generation. We've diversity in our culture, like no two parts on our land has the same culture as other. Everything is so unique and awesome and yet we all are united. I'm very very proud of India's richness in it's culture and traditions.
