As I laugh about what Leah said about the make-out, someone grabs my arms and pulls me to my feet. I turn to see Noel and he leads me into the house.

“Where are we going?” I ask him.

“Home.” My feet stop in their tracks and he turns to look at me. “What now?”

“I don’t wanna go home yet.” I pout.

“Look, I just don’t want you making out with random guys. Do you even realize who you kissed?” I nod.

“Yeah, I’m not that drunk.” I defend myself.

“Can we just go home?” He sounds defeated.

“Sure.” When we get to the car, I ask him, “Is something wrong?”

“I just didn’t like hearing what the guys were saying about you tonight.”

“Oh.” Is all I say and we fall into silence. I know the guys talk about me but I never thought it would be bad...

As soon as I get home I go straight to bed. As I drift off to sleep, I think, I can still feel Carter’s lips on mine.

My alarm goes off at nine. Agreeing to go for breakfast with Leah the morning after a party was not a good idea. I drag my lazy but out of bed and into the shower. By the time I’m ready, I’m already running late.

I drive to Tim Hortins and slide into the seat across from Leah; 10 minutes late. She glares at me but it doesn’t last long before she smiles.

Today her hair falls in perfect curls down her back and she has no makeup on and she looks beautiful. She’s wearing a black tank top with simple blue jeans.

“Fun party last night, huh?” She asks.

“Yeah, it was.” I say while holding back a yawn.

“Especially your kiss with Cater.” She jokes. I look around the room and I see lots of people from the party drinking or buying coffee. Anything to keep them awake.

“He was probably drunk too and won’t even remember.” I laugh but Leah shakes her head.

“He was sober the whole night.”  I stare at her and I can only imagine how shocked my face looks. “Don’t worry about it.” Then her face changes. “Or maybe worry about it after all.” She whispers.

I look up at the counter and Carter’s there waiting in line. When he sees me watching him he gives me a wink. I turn slowly back toward Leah to see her smirking. Then she bursts out laughing and at that moment I’m totally lost.

“It’s just I’ve never seen you nervous around a guy before.”

“I’m not nervous!” I snap. Did I forget to mention I am not a morning person? “It’s just normally I don’t walk up randomly to guys and make out with them!”

“Are you sure? You flirt with them all enough! And I’m tired of standing up for you when they call you a whore!”  Her voice has risen by the end of it and I see people looking at us.

“Then why bother?” I stand up, getting ready to walk away. “Let them think whatever the hell they want.” I spin around but she grabs my arm.

“Morgan...” She starts to say.

“Don’t touch me!” I scream without meaning to. Leah looks shocked but at this moment, I really don’t care. I storm out of Tim Hortins with probably everyone in there watching me.  I walk to my car and slouch in my seat, trying hard not to cry. I squeeze my eyes shut.

There’s a tap on my window, my eyes fly open. It’s Carter. I take one look at him then nod my head toward my empty passenger seat. He walks around and slides in. We sit in silence for a moment.

“So, were you drunk?” He asks.

“Last night? Not really, I only had three drinks.” I tell him.

“Why’d you kiss me?”

“Why’d you kiss me back?” I counter him.

“You like me, don’t you?” He smirks, his dark hair falling onto his face.

“You wish.”  I snap.

“To scared to admit it?” He teases me, amusement in his eyes.  “I think you want me.”

“In your dreams. If any ones going to want anyone, it’s going to be you wanting me.” I tell him.

“We’ll see about that.” He winks at me. Before I can say anything he’s out of my car and walking toward his own.  I blink then shift my car into drive. I pull out of the busy parking lot and head home.
