"Where did they steal it from?" Cecily asked.

"I don't know, I didn't bother to ask. I had to make it seem like I wasn't interested." Isabelle explained.

"He was probably crushed after that." Will commented, grinning. "Even when he gave you an actual huge diamond, you still rejected him. Quite tragic."

She huffed. "Can we please stop talking about him and I."

"We'll steal that, then." Jace announced. "The question is when, though."

"In awhile." Will said. "Let's wait and see if they do something first, and if they don't, we'll do it anyways."

"You guys know what we're starting, right?" Cecily frowned.

"No, maybe we'll be ending it this time." Clary said.

Tessa could only hope that she was right.

"When did you steal this?" Mortmain asked.

"A few years ago." Sebastian replied. "The owners never found out it was me."

Sebastian stood in the lavish headquarters of Axel Mortmain's gang. Honestly, he wasn't even sure why he had come here with the diamond. He just wanted to get rid of it. The diamond had been for her but she hadn't taken it. Isabelle's face flashed in his mind again, and along came the wave of pain. That's how it always was when he thought of her.

"Impressive." Mortmain said, examining the diamond. "Why?"

"Why what?" Sebastian echoed.

"Why did you steal it?" He repeated.

"Who doesn't want to steal a huge diamond?" Sebastian lied.

The last thing he wanted to tell him was that it was for a girl who he was hopelessly in love with, even after she'd turned him down on more than one occasion.

Mortmain chuckled. "Very true."

He set down the diamond in its holder. "You can keep it here, like you asked."

Mortmain then looked up at Sebastian. "You made a good choice by joining us."

Sebastian swallowed, I don't think I did. "Of course. It was a mistake to alliance myself with the Herondale's their gang."

He laughed. "Quite true." He then became serious. "But, I do know that you used to be in a relationship with one of their members."

Sebastian froze, Isabelle's face in his mind again. "Excuse me?"

"I had people research you." Mortmain spoke casually. "Isabelle, was it?"

Sebastian felt himself blush a bit. Memories from her party came back to him, at her word. Kissing her, the feel of her soft skin, the smell of her perfume.

"You're face says it all." Mortmain smirked, as if Sebastian were a fool to be in love. Maybe he was.

He cleared a throat. "I can assure you, that was something from the past. Her and I are not together now."

"And you don't want to be together now?" Mortmain questioned.

"Of course not." Sebastian lied. "I have no time for it."

"I hope you aren't lying to me, Sebastian." He said. "You already lied to me earlier. About the diamond. You stole it for her, and she refused."

Sebastian paled, and remained silent. How had he known about that? He had never told anyone about that.

"Don't worry, I'll let that one go, but next time I might not be so forgiving." Mortmain spoke casually.

Sebastian didn't say anything, and he went on.

"There is something I need you to do to prove your allegiance to me." He announced.

"What is it?" Sebastian asked.

"If you ever see her again, I want you to kill her." Mortmain replied simply.

Sebastian's breath caught, and he froze. Mortmain's words kept replaying over and over in his head. No, no he couldn't kill Isabelle. He would rather die a million times over, than have to kill her. She was everything to him. Everything. There was no way he would be able to do it.

Sebastian cleared his throat. "Of course."

Mortmain smiled. "Good."

He then walked away, leaving Sebastian feeling as if he were empty inside.
