Chapter Three
Sang

I pull into a space at the diner's small parking lot, before getting out of my car and making my way inside. The diner used to be an old church and when Uncle brought it—when I was about fifteen, maybe sixteen—he converted it to what it is today. I've only been here a couple of times throughout the years though, due to it being a huge hang out for Academy members.

I push open the door, a bell jingling to announce my arrival. I look up at the blasted thing and shake my head. I had hoped I would be able to come in unnoticed, but that plan is a massive failure.

Looking around the diner, I see that it isn't overly busy. A few waitresses are wandering about, an old couple sits in the corner, a group of four men in suits sit at the farthest table with paperwork spread out, and a group of three teen girls sit at table in the centre of the room, giggling behind their hands as they look at something near the counter. I follow their line of sight and see North with his elbows on the wooden counter talking to someone behind it, even though his eyes are focused on me.

I smile sweetly as I make my way towards him. After all, I am here to have dinner with him and Dr Green. That does not make this a date. Not one bit. I drop my bag onto the counter and push myself up onto a stool. "Good evening, North."

"Glad you made it—whatever your name is," North says, his lips tilting up into a smirk.

"Wait, you're about to have dinner with someone who you don't know the name of?" My eyes move to the guy behind the counter, and I'm taken aback with how good looking he is. Damn, he could be a model with his wavy, shoulder length, blonde hair tucked behind his ears, happy, amber brown eyes, and bright smile. His shoulders are slightly muscular, as are his arms. He's dressed in a button down shirt with only two buttons done up. I can't see his lower half.

He looks familiar. I had the same feeling with North and Dr Green, but for the life of me I can't place where I've seen them before.

Seeing me look at him, he holds out his hand. "I'm Lucian Taylor, but friends call me Luke."

Ah, Uncle's other nephew and North's brother. However, they couldn't be more opposite even if they tried. And no doubt, he's Academy. I take his hand in mine and sparks fly. "Hi, nice to meet you, Luke."

North chuckles. "You don't even get her name, asshole."

Luke puts a hand to his chest and does a dramatic mock gasp. "Wounding me straight in the heart, Cupcake."

"Cupcake?" I ask, raising my eyebrow.

"Well, if I don't know your name, I have to call you something," Luke says with a grin and a wink. Oh, he's a flirt like Dr Green.

"Get back to work, boy. Stop chit chatting." At the familiar voice, I peak around North towards the kitchen doors where a familiar face stands, glaring at his nephew.

"Sorry, Uncle. I was just trying my charm on this lovely lady," Luke says, gesturing to me.

Uncle's brown eyes swing to me, and it takes a few seconds for him to register who I am. I wave my fingers at him as North straightens to his full height. "Hi, Uncle."

"Wait, you know Uncle?" North asks, looking at me.

"Sure do," I giggle as I hop down from my seat. Rounding North, I start heading in Uncle's direction.
