Faltering Through Nature

Venturing through this vast wilderness
We took steps in reverse to our story's prologue
Large vines decorated with thorns and thistles
Slowly wrapped us and constricted our puny bliss

Our flaming fingertips were extinguished
As we submerged into an ocean of crystal clarity
A sudden entanglement of kelp to my skin caused
Sinking ripples to surrender to emerging waves

A cobbled path sheeted with a white blanket
Was once intricate as a transparent snowflake
Till we soon faltered before cold gravestones
The last ray of sunlight cascaded down our cheeks

With our bare soles resting on scorching sand,
Each grain lost track of every wasted second
Hallucinations of thirst quenchers faded in
But reaching out to them made them intangible

Prayer's wounded wings never transported us
To thousands of feet above rock bottom, so sharp
We decided to ascend to the mountain's peak
Without realizing our unbreakable fall was near

Continuously wandering in an extensive flat land
Where a single tree of hope has never sprouted
Allowed fatigue to endlessly devour our hearts
And created an impossible labyrinth to escape

Although our epilogue still contains acidic tears,
Beams of laughter will always trail our shadows
No matter what environment we travel through,
Our footsteps will never exit from my memories
