As they lay in bed later that day, Eric's birthday party over and done, Andrew turns on his side to face his wife. Tugging with a light force on one of her curls, he tries to get her attention away from the manuscript in her lap. Like usual, it works and Jewel sets the book on the bed side table. Andrew smiles at this as he continues to twirl her hair around his finger. What can he say, he loves the attention she gives him.

“What do you want, dear,” Jewel laughs, running her finger through his hair.

“Some love and affection,” he replies, sitting up to give her a kiss on the cheek.

Jewel doesn't question it, and she enjoys the moment as he trails kisses down her neck. A small moan leaves her lips as she wraps an arm around him, holding Andrew in place. She indulges in the feeling of his lips against her skin, rolling her head back to give him more access to her. He hooks a finger inside the collar of her shirt to pull it down a bit, and just when she thought it was getting good --he stops.

“So about that journal you kept,” he whispers, his breath warm against the skin of her chest.

Jewel muffs him away from her as she rolls her eyes. It was just a ploy to get her to do his bidding, and it makes her upset that it worked.

“I was hoping you forgot about it,” she says,  reaching under the mattress.

“O, but darling, I never forget.”

Kissing her collar bone, Andrew brings his wife closer to him by wrapping an arm around her waist. He smiles when she doesn't resist, then continues to kiss her smooth skin again. It's become his pleasure to make her moan without truly doing anything, and it usually gets him what he wants.

“I you want me to read this to you,” Jewel pants, the red book trembling in her hands. “You have to stop doing that.”

“I'm sorry, I just love what I do to you,” Andrew smiles against her bare shoulder.

Relief washes over Jewel as he pulls away, but keeping his arm around her waist as he burrows into her shoulder. His short blond bait tickles her cheek, but she ignores the feeling as she opens the journal. Staring down at the page, she takes a deep breath before she asks Andrew is he sure about this. Of course to her horror, he says yes. Begrudged, she flips to the first passage and starts to read it.

Drew,

Why? I thought we were doing so well, but I guess I was wrong.

“Can I not read this one?”

“If it hurts me, then no, because I deserve it.”

Maybe we moved too fast, maybe I wasn't enough for you, but god was I wrong about us. In my eyes, everything was perfect: we were happy. Nobody but you and me, a dynamic duo ready to face the world together. Yet just like that, my fantasy crumbled before me. It crumbled into the hands of her.

Tall, brunette, blue eyes, and seeming as if she's just walked off a runway. It hurt so much, and fuck have I cried about it. My body feels so numb, because the pain is just to great to be felt. They say pain demands to be felt, but sometimes it doesn't. Sometimes it's hurts to the point where you can't feel anything at all, or maybe you just don't want to. And I don't want to.

I don't want the pain of knowing, that I didn't compare to her. The absolute anguish of realising, that I couldn't possibly be enough for you. She was what you wanted, and I was meant nothing to you anymore. Nothing in this world could prepare me, for the moment I became worthless to someone who means everything to me. My chest hurts; I feel hallow.

You said that you loved me, so why are my sheets empty and hers are tangled between the two of you?

“I-I'm so sorry,” Andrew whimpers, holding Jewel tighter as she closes the book.

“It's over, we're happy now. Don't apologize for the past,” she replies, kissing the top of his head.

“Let me make it up to you?”

Jewel stares at him for a moment, wondering what the hell is going through her husband's mind. He's already made it up to her, there is nothing he could possibly do to make up for it again. So she asks him how, and he just kisses her lips.

It's slow passionate, and sends warmth throughout both of their bodies. And then, they made fire.
