Fire Boy and Water Girl - NaLu, GrUvia

Chapter 2

It had been a couple of days since the Dragneel twins, Natsu and Juvia had joined, and they were already wreaking havoc. In an art class, Natsu somehow managed to burn his painting...as well as the rest of the classroom. Juvia had flooded the hallways when trying to practise her magic. In short, they were very destructive.

"Juvia and Natsu-nii are not destructive!" Juvia argued.

"Yeah! We're just a little clumsy," Natsu told Principal Makorav. The old man shook his head and sighed.

"It seems like I'm going to have to get you two a mentor," Makorav said.

"A what now?" they asked in sync.

"A mentor. Someone who'll look after you. Make sure you don't do anything stupid," he explained, and the two nodded in agreement.

"So who will our mentors be?" Natsu asked. Makorav signalled them to go outside whilst he used the microphone on his desk to make and announcement.

Out in the hallway, Natsu and Juvia heard the principal's voice over the tannoy system.

"Could Lucy Heartfilia and Gray Fullbuster please report to the principal's office immediately?"

Juvia squealed.

"Lucy-san might be our mentor!" she said giddily. Over the past couple of days Juvia had grown a liking for the blonde girl, and she was sure her older twin liked her too.

After a few minutes, Lucy and a raven haired boy unknown to them came walking down the hallway. Lucy smiled and waved at them as she passed them on the way to the office. The boy just glared at them with his dark eyes, and Juvia couldn't help but stare at the handsome stranger.

"Lucy, Gray, I hope you understand what you need to do?" Makorav asked.

"Yes Principal," Lucy replied politely.

"Yeah, yeah, who the heck are we supposed to mentor anyway?" Gray questioned. Makorav signalled at Lucy, who nodded and rushed outside the door. There, she saw the twins facing each other, seeming to have what seemed to be a staring contest. They were completely silent, not moving a muscle. Lucy took a note of this and peeped round the door, saying, "Gray, is it okay if you come outside?"

"Tch, whatever," he grumbled, getting out of his seat and walking out the doorway. He saw the pink haired boy and blue haired girl staring each other down. He assumed these were the twins, even though they looked nothing alike, except for they were the same height.

"You blinked!"

"Juvia did not blink! Natsu-nii did!"

"You did!"

"You did!"

"No you did!"

This argument continued for what seemed like hours, until they heard someone clear their throat behind them.

"Hi!" Lucy greeted.

"Hi Lucy/Lucy-san!" the Dragneels greeted back.

"I'm sure Principal Makorav told you about the whole 'mentor' thing," she started.

"Yep!"

"Well...I've been chosen to be Natsu's mentor!" she said.

"That's great!" Natsu cheered.

"Juvia is so happy for Natsu-nii!" Juvia squealed. She paused to think for a while. Then she clicked her fingers and looked up.

"If Lucy-san is Natsu-nii's mentor, then Juvia's mentor must be-"

"Me," a deep voice said behind her. Juvia screamed in shock and tightly cling onto Natsu, shouting, "Help! There's a big monster coming to eat Juvia!"

"Juvia, calm down!" Lucy exclaimed.

"Juvia is too young to die!" she cried, hugging Natsu closer.

"Juvia, that's a person, not a monster," Natsu explained. Juvia hesitantly turned around, and saw the raven haired boy, yet again glaring at them.

"Juvia, that's you're mentor," Lucy told them, "Gray Fullbuster!"

"G-gray...sama?" Juvia murmured hesitantly. Gray continued glaring at her, without saying a word.

"Um...Juvia's name is...Juvia," she said, uncertainly. Gray still continued to glare at her.

"I don't think he likes you," Natsu whispered into his sister's ear.

"Juvia neither!" she whispered back.

"Oi, Gray!" Lucy yelled, waving her hands in front of the the teen in question. His head jerked up and looked towards Juvia, who was cowering behind Natsu.

"Oh, sorry about that," he mumbled, rubbing the back his neck. Juvia mustered up the courage to tiptoe out from behind her brother. Gray extended out his hand.

"My name is Gray. Gray Fullbuster," he said whilst she shook his hand.

"Juvia. Juvia Dragneel," she replied. Their hands did not part. They kept staring at each other, a faint tinge of pink on their faces. Natsu saw this and barged in between them.

"Hello!" he yelled, making them cover both their ears.

"You guys..." Lucy sighed, rolling her eyes.

"Gray, you really need to stop zoning out like that,"

"I said I was sorry!"
