I didn't know my heart could hurt this bad.

And no, I wasn't having a heart attack. But my god, did it feel like it.

I started dry heaving as I watched him walk away from me as if he had done absolutely nothing wrong. I was getting weird looks from everyone that past me. I didn't get weird looks from people...ever.

I decided that I didn't have much else to lose right now, so I let out one loud, murderous scream.

"Hey," someone gripped my upper arm and I quickly whirled around, yanking my arm out of their grip while doing so. "Calm down, Kat, you're making a scene. What happened?" Sadie, a friend I've had since third grade questioned before pulling me into the girl's bathroom.

"Connor's fucking Rosie!" I screamed, nearly scaring to death some other girl in the bathroom. She quickly maneuvered around me to wash her hands and leave. "He dumped me for that loose-"

Sadie held her hands up to shush me before I could finish insulting Rosie and her disgusting man stealing self, "Whoa! Just...breathe, Kat. He's a pig that doesn't deserve you. Lets rebound."

What?

My boyfriend of a year just dumped me for the one person he knew I couldn't stand, and my best friend's only solution is to get a rebound? That is so not how I roll.

"I don't play that game, Sadie."

"Sorry. I was just trying to help."

My nerves started to kick in as I heard the first bell ring. At the beginning of the year Connor and I had planned our whole entire schedule out so that we had the same classes together. I was going to have to see him and Rosie WhoreMcSpreadEmWide in most of my classes and I just didn't know how I was going to do that.

I had convinced my first period teacher, Miss Hewitson at the beginning of the first semester to let me sit next to him even though she had a very strict seating chart policy. I was praying to God that since we had just come back from Winter break, she was going to have a new seating chart all planned out. "See ya later, Katie Kat. Tell me if he's a jerk. I'll beat his ass for you," Sadie gave me a reassuring smile before leaving the bathroom.

I wiped at the rogue tear that had fallen from my eye before I left the bathroom and crossed the hall to my first class, not shocked in the slightest to see that it was mostly empty.

"Good morning, Katarina," Miss Hewitson smiled. I cringed at the name, knowing that I've told her only a million times that I'd rather be called Kat. "The new seating chart is on the board," she told me before gracefully exiting the classroom as two other randos walked in.

I glanced up at the board, quickly scanning the girly handwriting for my name. And there I was, located in the very back, right in front of the teacher's desk.

I walked back and took a seat just as everyone else started to pile in. It didn't take me long to realize that I was going to have a new desk partner, and I quickly looked back at the board to see who it was.

Colton McGregor was written in that infamous handwriting of Miss Hewitson's.

I knew that name, but I was having a hard time putting it to a face.

The warning bell started to ring and for some odd reason, this Colton person's face came to mind.

I was a good girlfriend. If I was in a relationship with you, I didn't look at other people's attractiveness because I didn't see a point in it if I was already stuck with someone.

But when I remembered who Colt was, my stomach produced butterflies.

H. O. T.

He made Connor look like some homeless guy when I always thought of him as a supermodel handcrafted by the gods.

The final bell rang just as Miss Hewitson had come back, bringing two door divers with her.

Ha, they were going to get a lunch detention. Miss Hewitson hated door diving. You were always supposed to be here before the final bell.

"Excuses, boys?" She asked whilst readying her detention slips.

"Bus was late," the tall, skinny blonde boy I knew as Noah Marz said before glancing at the board and then sliding into a desk in the front.

Miss Hewitson rolled her eyes and stuck the slips back in the podium. She was probably sad that she couldn't ruin someone else's day, "Colt, you're in the back with Kat."

He nodded knowingly, seconds before sitting in the desk right next to mine.

A weird smell filled my nose, it reminded me of a campfire...and trees, lots and lots of trees.

As an only child with a lawyer as a single father that was way more prissy than me, I never experienced camping and I wasn't so sure that was even a bad thing.

I normally didn't like the smell of smoke, but for some odd reason, I really didn't mind it right now.

I couldn't help but take in the sight right next to me. His hair was so dark, not quite dark enough to be considered black, but almost too dark to be considered brown. His eyes were the weirdest shade from the angle I had, a silverish blue that I had never seen before, with a small birthmark right under his left eye.

I watched in horror as he turned to look at me.

Quickly, I turned away from him, now facing the window and mouthing, "Fuck."

Never get caught staring, kids. It's embarrassing.

"Is there something on my face?" He whispered to me, his voice nice and deep.

I turned my head back to face him, all of my dignity gone, "No. Nothing. It looks good."

He gave me a weird look, but then laughed a little, "Thanks."

"No problem," I mumbled.

~Colt's POV~

Noah nudged me harshly, knocking me off balance for less than a second, "I saw you chatting it up with Kat. So much for taking school seriously, right? Isn't she dating that Connor asshole anyway?"

"Not anymore," I pushed him back but he actually ran into some poor girl. I laughed as he had to apologize before she punched his face in.

"You're a shit, ya know that?"

I nodded, "Well, being nice to people isn't going to get me anywhere." I couldn't some day be an Alpha and walk around being friends with everyone. Other packs would come for my land so fast it wouldn't even be funny.

"So what's the situation then? What pack is she from, did you find out?" Noah questioned.

"I don't think she's in one."

"What? So like she's a rogue?"

I shook my head, "Like I don't think she's a wolf."

Hello!!

I recently read two werewolf books here on Wattpad and those have inspired me BIG time. I've never written a werewolf book before, my comfort zone is usually more around vampires, so I really don't know much about how wolves lives go.

I'm just going with it.

To anyone that may have read my other books, this one is going to be SO much more different. This one is going to have love scenes :) so bear with me.

I promise this is going to be waaaaaaay more interesting than the first chapter!

Thanks for reading.
