he tried not to let me down
his word turned my world
upside down
everything was broken
falling apart
i needed him there
but we were apart
the war would take everything
even my love
he fought for our country
but not my love
he left me there
all alone
in that house
i once called home
but it wasn't anymore
without him there
without his warmth
i could not bear
the war had stopped
he didn't come home
i cryed at night
until the morn'
my friends all said
it wasn't meant to be
but i loved him more
then they could ever see
now he is gone
never coming back
my heart was broken
by just one gun blast
