Prologue
Former American-Italian mafia boss, Bruno Marchetti, stood in front of the judge waiting for his verdict. The jury carefully filed into the court room, seeming to take hours to find their seats.
The judge cleared his throat. “Has the jury reached a verdict?”
“Yes we have, your honor,” one juror said through clenched teeth, “we find the defendant guilty of all charges and is hereby sentenced to lethal injection.” Bruno Marchetti didn’t act out as was expected; instead, he stared apathetically at the jury and spoke calmly in flawless Italian: te ne pentirai, farò in modo di che. (You’ll be sorry, I will make sure of that). And with that, Bruno Marchetti kissed his fifth wife and headed off to his cell on death row.
