Tyrion Lannister X Baratheon!Reader - Queen of Kindness (Requested)

Start from the beginning

"I didn't say a word, Your Grace," he told you holding up his hands in mock surrender as you shook your head at him. "But I agree that it would be wise to have him to foster the girl, rather than to do it yourself," he added and you nodded in agreement.

"I want what is best for her, she may not be my niece by blood but she was raised by my brother and I love her like she was his," you murmured putting your head in your hands.

"I understand, Your Grace. The child did nothing wrong, and to you, she is as much your niece as Shireen was," he spoke softly, all joking aside as he placed his hand gently on your shoulder in comfort.

"Thank you, Robb, you are excused. Please, send Talisa my request," you told him, pausing for a moment, with a soft smile. "The realm will understand if you don't want to foster Tommen," you added and he nodded before getting up and leaving the room, headed back to his family.

*Time Skip*

A few hours later, you were still sitting at your wooden table, nursing a cup of wine and thinking about what was to come of your niece and nephew. The room had grown dark, other than a few small candles that sat in the centre of the table. Suddenly the voice of your guard came from the other side of the door.

"Your Grace, Tyrion Lannister requests your company," Bronn spoke up and you smiled as you got to your feet, pulling the door open and poking your head out to see the two men that you had spent most of your time with when your Nephew had been in power.

"Come in, both of you," you started with a smile, moving out of the way to let them into the room. "And stop with the 'Your Grace' shit, it bothers me to hear you two saying it," you added in a huff, making them chuckle lightly.

"But, Your Grace, what else are we to call you?" Tyrion teased and you shook your head giving him a playful glare as Bronn spoke up.

"Is My Lady better, Your Grace?" he asked, causing Tyrion to choke on his laughter and you huffed and threw your head back in disbelief. Usually, Bronn wouldn't join in with the teasing of you; he was better at annoying Tyrion and almost always decided to stick to that.

"Stop it both of you. I may be your friend but I am still the queen and I could have you both beheaded if I wanted to," you told them as you allowed yourself to slump into your chair, causing them both to laugh again. "Actually, I wanted to speak with you about something before I stop being Queen for the night, Tyrion," you started again, sitting back up and meeting his concerned gaze.

"What was it you wanted to ask, Y/N?" he questioned and you smiled at the use of your name. No one had called you that in months; it wasn't like you had very many friends anymore, nor much family.

"I want you to foster Myrcella," you blurted, holding your hand up when he went to answer."It's the only way I can remain close to her and let her know I haven't abandoned her," you told him and he noddeds lightly in agreement.

"Okay, I will take her in," he told you before hesitating. "Where is Tommen going?" he asked you and you gave him a light smile.

"Robb Stark and his wife are considering it, if not I'll likely have to take him in myself. There aren't many I trust with his safety," you uttered and he continued to nod.

"That is wise. If I need to take in both children I will. I know you love them, but they were never Baratheon's and the people will not be happy with the idea of you raising them," he told you, placing his hand on your arm lightly as he spoke.

"Thank you," you murmured quietly. "And now that I've asked that of you I can take of the crown and relax for a while," you joked, though you were still thinking of Tyrion's niece and nephew.

"Actually, I have to go. I have to sleep before my next shift," Bronn spoke up. "Sorry, the boss can be a right bitch," he joked and you shook your head as he laughed.

"I don't sort that, I think you'll find that you asked for as many shifts with me as you could get, if I remember rightly," you teased and both men laughed.

"Only to save you from boredom," he shot back and you nodded in agreement.

"I'm sorry about that scene earlier, Bronn. If the other guards hadn't heard you I wouldn't have done it," you told him more seriously and he nodded.

"I get it, you have to be Queen out there," he told you and you smiled gratefully at his comment. "But I really do have to go, so I'll see you in the morning," he added and you nodded, both you and Tyrion bidding him goodbye before settling back into conversation.

"I don't want to be Queen," you spoke quietly, causing Tyrion's head to turn to you in shock. You allowed yourself to meet his gaze, giving a small shrug at his look of disbelief. "I'm doing a horrible job," you added and his disbelief turned to worry.

"You're doing a wonderful job, Y/N. What are you talking about?" he asked, reaching across the table to place his hand over yours on the wooden surface.

You shrugged over at him again. "The people don't want me, they wanted Stannis," you grumbled and he chuckled.

"If you truly believe that, then you are not the woman I thought you were. These people love you," he joked lightly and you rolled your eyes at him.

"The people tolerate me because I don't go on killing sprees," you retorted and he laughed again.

"Y/N, I know they love you, because I don't know a single person that you have come across who doesn't," he told you gently and you smiled softly at him.

"I'm sure you say that to all the Ladies you meet, you little flatterer," you chuckled back, your cheeks reddening as he shook his head in answer.

"You are the only one. The only Lady worthy of the sentiment," he started more seriously and you rolled your eyes at the flirting. "I mean it, I love you Y/N," he told you and your eyes went wide.

"Tyrion," you warned slightly as he moved around the table, still holding your hand in his. "This can't happen, the realm will never allow a Lannister to be with their Queen. I'm sorry," you uttered, standing up and pulling your hand from his. He closed his eyes tightly as you looked down at him. "I'm so sorry Tyrion, I care about you deeply, but you have to understand," he held up his hand to cut you off.

"I understand, Your Grace. I think it's time that I left you for the evening," he murmured, finally reopening his eyes before walking towards the door, leaving you in silence as tears filled your eyes, unable to call back the only man you had ever loved.
