The Here and Now

The panic stricken screaming would attract any normal person's attention, but I am not normal, not any more. My humanity has been crushed and pushed deep, deep down into my body, hidden from sight, it's the only way for me to stay semi-sane. In a cell to my right, someone is in excruciating agony but today I don't care because the someone isn't me. Even though I know exactly what's going on, I drop my eyes to the ground and quicken my step as I pass the two white-vested Thai men who block the entrance. My peripheral vision catches sight of thrashing naked legs.

It's just another day, just another rape.
