a poet's insecurities

In a position where you are expected to inspire

And light and ignite a very small fire

Within broken hearts and troubled heads,

You'll wonder if you should just stop instead.

For these fingers fear spreading mistakes

Coming across as pains and aches.

And spreading bad about the word of good.

"Keep quiet now like the way you should."

Pure intentions and brightened hopes?

But these sagging shoulders - can they cope?

To talk about problems bravely and loud,

Surely, then, you're approved by the crowd.

Unless you're not - "That's misinformation!"

"Kid, you're hurting the world, not just your nation!"

"Leave the pen to seasoned writers like me."

"Your readers surely won't miss your dear company."

"Now, take care of those thoughts! You'll spark up a war."

Part of me wonders if they're worth dying for.

All these cluttered ideas of life and its contents:

Am I sure indeed it's caused no offence?

"Just sit back, relax and enjoy the show,"

See someone else rise and tell people off, "No!"

Sit on your sofa, lost in daydream,

Once, you'd a voice but now? You can barely just

scream.

A/N: Hey everyone! Just needed to get this out of my system. Thanks for reading! :)
