Taking that as a sign that I will no longer attack him he scoots closer to me. I place my head on his lap and close my eyes.

"I am beyond sorry that this has happened to you. I would trade places with you in a heartbeat if I could" He slowly strokes my cheek.

"Aw look as this boys. The traitor has made friends with the beast. How cute" One of the guards has returned and is now standing right inside the door frame.

Colton quickly jumps to his feet and takes a step away. My head hits the hard ground since I don't even attempt to slow its fall off his lap.

"Is this why you gave up hunting? To live among them and befriend them?" At hearing the other mans comment Colton's father enters the room.

"I thought that you were dead. When you died I gave up this live. I never wanted to do those horrible things to all of those people." Colton is trembling. I have no idea if the trimmers are out of anger or terror. Maybe they are out of both.

His father shakes his head and turns to walk back out of the room. As he goes he pauses by the guard, "Lock him in there with her. Since he seems so keen on being with them I will give him one last gift as his father. Tomorrow at sun down they will both die."

With that the cell door is shut and locked. All of the men once again exit the room leaving just Colton and myself locked in a hopeless cell.

I finally give in to exhaustion and the last thing that I see before the world disappears into darkness is tears streaming down Colton's hopeless face.

I have a wonderful dream despite the horrible things that are going to happen to me in less than 24 hours. In this dream I am a few years older. I seem to be in the middle of the pack yard with a party going on around. Pack members mingle all around, some in human form while others run around as wolves.

My eye catches sight of a small wolf that seems to be struggling to catch up with the rest of the pups. I reach down and scoop him up and toss him high in the air. Soon his form changes into a handsome little five year old boy that is breathing heavy, trying to catch his breath.

"Do you not remember what happened last week when I tossed him up? Do you want to experience the chunks too?"

I feel an arm go around my waist and turn me around. My heart skips a beat at the sight of Colton's handsome face and beautiful eyes. He pulls the child and myself into a tight hug and kiss me on the forehead.

"Hey beautiful. Is our little man enjoying his party?" His smile widens as he looks from me to the child that I am still holding.

Speechless, I continue to look at the child's face. He has dark hair that matches Colton's to the tee. But Unlike Colton's hair this child's is sticking in every direction with wild, untaimed curls much like my own hair. When he looks up at me with a smile plastered on his face I can see that he has Colton's smile as well. The main feature that this toddler has that does not resemble Colton is his golden eyes. They are my eyes. Those are the eyes of an Alpha.

This child that I am currently holding is mine and Colton's. We made this child together out of love.

"Darling this party is absolutely amazing. You know you get your party skills from me" This beautiful woman walks up and pulls me out of Colton's arms and into her own.

Colton reaches around me and grabs the child from me and walks away.

"Mom?" I begin crying uncontrollably. Not the cute kind of crying but the big ugly type. All of the emotions that I have tried so hard to hold in come rushing to the surface instantly. The damn has fallen and there is no way to close it.

"oh, don't cry honey. There is no need for that."

I pull back just long enough to look at her face then I squeeze her back against my body. I know that this nothing but a dream but I feel guilt rush over me, "I have missed you so much. I am so sorry that I made you go to the store that night. I am so so sorry."

She pulls me back from her body but keeps me in her arms still, "Don't you think for one second that any of that was your fault." her dream self seems to know about her own death. "This is not just a dream Mia. I was given the chance to visit you one last time in your time of need."

Shock overtakes me and I stumble back. Her strong arms are the only thing that is keeping me standing. "how is this possible?"

She pulls me closer once more. "I don't have time to explain everything. All you need to know is that I am really here with you. I was sent to tell you that now is not your time. You need to continue to fight. Do you see all that you have to live for? All of these people look up to you for guidance especially that man." She kisses my forehead, "You found your mate, your love. Don't let him go. I know that he might not seem like the best fit but he is your missing piece."

"But-"

"No. You need to listen to me. You have to fight for yourself as well as Colton. You need the support he can offer and he needs your mental strength. Don't give up on life, help is on the way as we speak. Stay strong." She gives me one last tight hug and lets me go completely.

Tears start flowing faster which I didn't know was even possible. "No don't leave me mama!"

She starts backing up, "I love you Mia. I will always be with you even when you can't see me. I have one favor to ask of you. Please let your father know he did a beautiful job raising you to be the woman you are now and let him know I love him."

As she starts to disappear into the crowd the dream starts to fade as well. I know with all my heart this is going to be the last time I see my mother for a while.
