"man," gabriel said, "that was busy."
dan leaned back in his chair at the tattoo studio after the shop closed. "yeah, pretty fun though."
gabriel raised an eyebrow. "you're in an uncharacteristically good mood. something good happen to you?"
dan smiled softly. "something very good."
"fine," gabriel threw up his arms in mock anger, "don't tell me what it is then."
dan chuckled, picking up his glass of water.
a group of teens walked past the shop windows; one held a baseball bat.
dan felt himself tense.
dannieellll...come out come out wherever you are...
"dan," gabriel said, "what's wrong?"
"danny....dannnyyyyy...."
the footsteps were echoing along the hallway; they were coming closer and closer.
phil wrapped his arms around dan protectively; the younger boy was trembling.
"dan?"
the man stood before them, and though the light was dim, this time phil could make out his face.
he had brown hair and brown eyes and was very tall.
it had to be dan's dad; they looked so alike.
in his big, beefy hand, he held a baseball bat.
"dan!"
he grinned, "found you."
the glass slipped from dan's hand and shattered as it hit the floor.
he didn't even notice.
