Jackson's POV

Amara told me to stay in her so called 'room'. I knew that her father treated her badly but it didn't think it was this bad. I

followed her quietly not wanting her to see me. I hid behind the fridge. I saw her dad. Grab a knife from the counter and

pin Amara against the wall. He unbuttoned some of her shirt and take the knife from the bottom of her jaw the the last

button he unbuttoned. Her body went limp and she fell to the floor. She crawled to the stairs. She went back down to the

basement. I beat her there knowing that she could barely see. She covered her neck trying to cover the blood but her

hand was covered in blood. She mouthed the words Don't tell anyone about what you saw. I didn't know how she put up

with him.

Amara's POV

When Jackson left I quietly cried on my bed. I did all my chores and finally fell asleep.

The next day

I pulled on my uniform and went outside. I was only allowed food every other day. I jumped out of my window to avoid

my dad like the day before. Like yesterday I saw Jackson staring at me. I ignored the curious glances and walked to

school. I didn't have any belongings so I didn't have a car. I had to walk everywhere. When I got to school I had five

minutes until class started. I looked in the mirror making sure my scars where covered. The new one that my dad made

the day before was shown but I couldn't cover it up so I left it there but wiped the dried blood away. I saw everyone

pointing to my neck. I looked to make sure no one was looking at me and ran to the janitor room and sat there and

cried. My life was pointless without my mom. I made sure no one could see me by hiding inside a box. I wasn't skinny in

my opinion but my friend from my childhood would beg to differ. I fit inside the box easily and cried. I cried because of

the pain and loss. I heard someone walk up to the door and I tried to stop crying. Jackson looked for like a minute and

finally opened the box not thinking I would be in there but I tried to hold the flaps down. "Go away" I muttered. I was

way stronger than Jackson but I've been losing blood everyday for the past 10 years. Ever since my mom died my dad

would take his anger out on me and make me bleed. My mother died when I was 6 years old. So I finally gave up but I

wasn't coming out. Everyday that I didn't eat I would turn pale. Jackson seemed to notice. "Amara have you eaten

today?" He questioned already knowing that I haven't. "I'm only allowed to eat every other day so my dad can save

money" I replied truthfully for the first time to someone in 10 years.
