My mum tapped her foot angrily shaking her head; I knew she didn’t even know where to start
“I don’t even know where to start!” she shouted out, me and my dad shot each other worried glances, she opened her mouth but was interrupted when there was a knock on the door, Erick walked in cautiously with a bunch of different coloured flowers in his hands, I felt my heart pick up again, he was wearing a tight black fitted shirt with blue jeans
“I’m I interrupting something?” Erick asked innocently
“No Erick you stay you seem to know more than me as well” she spat “Sit down” and he obeyed putting the flowers on a table looking nervous
My mom glared at my dad distastefully “I told you Sam didn’t I not tell you!?” then she turned her scary glares towards me
“Didn’t I warn you Max!?” she shrieked “Dirty filthy yobs will get you one day! Didn’t I say it Maxwell?”
I kept silent
“Answer me!”
“Yes mom” I hung my head low
My dad intervened trying to simmer down the tension “Honey maybe Erick should wait outside, you’re embarrassing the kid”
“What!?” she asked “He deserves it!”
“Why?” my dad asked baffled
“Not once Sam!” she screamed “Not once did he ask for a priest, an exorcist or even a simple prayer!”
“What the hell Vicky!?” he shook his head not believing what he was hearing “He’s just a kid, he didn’t ask for this!
“Erick!?” my mum snapped
“Mrs Carter?” he replied worried
“Look at him” I lifted my head to look at Erick who was staring, my breathing started spiralling out of control, thank goodness no one noticed
“He’s beautiful isn’t he?”
Erick gulped slowly “Yes.” He replied seriously “Very beautiful”
I dropped my head again quickly trying to blow air to my cheeks, I don’t think they’ve been this red before “You see! Erick’s not a dirty homo but he knows Sam, he knows we have a beautiful Son” my mom then pointed an accusing finger at me
“And you know it Maxwell” she cried “Yet you continue to walk around like no one can hurt you! You refuse to stay at home and you see what’s it’s caused! THE SLUMS MAX THE SLUMS THEY’VE GOTTEN YOU JUST LIKE I SAID!” She howled
“JESUS WOMAN! YOU’RE OUT OF YOUR FUCKING MIND!”
