Every day, an old, olive skinned woman with wrinkles and silver hair sat on a bench looking out upon the lake with her amber eyes. She closed her eyes and inhaled the smell of the salty water and pines trees; home. She opened her eyes again and looked beyond the lake, memories of the good and the bad of her life flashing by. A boy, no older than 16 sat down on the bench besides the old woman and didn't utter a word. He was fair skinned with dirty blonde hair, and dark brown eyes. The boy stared at her for a moment then looked away when the old woman noticed. She looked him up and down taking in his young appearance. She remembers when she was young like him and so full of life; curious to know what danger lies in the forest. After a moment of silence the old woman spoke with a hoarse voice "What brings you to my presence?"
The boy looked back at her and replied calmly "When I came here and I saw you, you looked peaceful, like all of your burdens have been lifted off of you. Except, you look sad and lonely and I was curious why you seem this way"
"I see," croaked the old woman. "Can I tell you a story?"
The boy's eyes lit up. He loved stories as a child and still does and always will. "Yes, 'please." He replied eager to hear the story that the woman will tell him.
