Halloween is my favorite holiday. It's the only day where I can be someone I'm not. This year, I did nothing. What was the point? It's not like it's some kind of royal ball or whatever. I didn't even feel like going anywhere because more than likely, I'll meet up with someone from our school since we all lived in a small town. The last thing I needed was someone to recognize me because..well...I hate most of them.

"Aren't you going out with your friends today?" my dad asked on Halloween evening. Yeah. Like I actually ha any friends.

"What's the point? It's not like a have any friends to begin with. Everyone in our school is brainwashed by social media." I told him.

He then walked over to me and started awkwardly patting my shoulders. "I'm really sorry, Coral. You aren't supposed to be here or go to that school..." He whispered as if I were a fragile glass décor that might break if he spoke louder.

Huh? "What do you mean?" I asked.

My dad's then had a 'I shouldn't have said that' look on his face for just a few seconds. "Well I- never mind that. Just please at least try to have fun tonight. Halloween is your favorite!" he said trying to change the subject and then exited my room.

I just sat there...alone. It's like he gave me a clue to an invisible puzzle. Iguess I'll go out tonight...for my dads sake. He's been trying so hard to be both the mother and father and the least I can do for him is to cause him less worry. It's not like I had anything to lose.

I didn't do anything really. I just walked around the neighborhood, looking at children in cute costumes. Everything was going find until I saw Dolton. It wasn't a pleasant sight. Not at all really. Dolton himself wasn't pleasant himself. He was a VERY overweight kid with a bad attitude. He, like Ms.Abby, also liked to pick on and humiliate me. The funny part: I have no idea why.

"Look who we have here!" exclaimed Dolton as he started coming towards me. Great. Just what I needed. I started to walk away, pretending like I didn't hear him but unfortunately, that didn't work because he grabbed my shoulders and pulled me back.

"Not so fast, Levis."
