Once In A Lifetime

Chapter 2

A year had passed now since Aahana had first heard about Shanaya. Aahana must've seen Shanaya around in the campus but she never knew that face was Shanaya.

Aahana was now in the third year of her degree. The college had a cultural festival and many students had participated. Aahana decided she would act as a spectator. It was a three day festival. The first two days Aahana and her friends had to sit in the last rows of their auditorium which had a mere capacity of 500 people.

So on the third day along with her friends she was rushing to find front row seats,and they did. All thanks to her friend Lily whose boyfriend had reserved seats for few of them because he was going to perform and wanted his girlfriend in the front row to cheer him.

After a few boring dramas,the most awaited thing of the evening was up. The college fashion show. Even those who were sleeping during the drama were awake now. No one wanted to miss this hot ramp walk. Boys with good built bodies and with no shirts and with their abs shining were walking the ramp. Then some girls followed them but none of them were that impressive. It was now time for the show stopper.

And there she was walking the ramp gracefully,full of attitude and while turning away she gave the crowd a sexy wink.

Omg who was she? I had lost my mind. That's when I heard some boy in the auditorium going

"You got the video in HD right? Damn Shanaya was looking so hot I was burnt alive."

I turned facing Lily, still shocked

"Wait so that's Shanaya?"

"Yeah don't tell me you didn't know her." Lily said.

"No I didn't." I said.

"You live under a rock Aa. Where have you been!" Lily said.

"She's really pretty and she looks so confident and she's in the fashion team. Perfect. No wonder she has such a huge fan following around here " I said.

"Stop staring like you're gonna eat her now. People will know you're a bisexual then. " Lily said.

"I don't care what people think and besides she not really... I don't.. whatever nevermind." I said clearly not taking my eyes off her.

Aahana managed to get a copy of the Fashion show from her classmates saying she wanted to see the guy who was crushing on her. Little did everyone know.

A week passed and now Aahana had started noticing Shanaya everywhere in the college. She was like the moon following her everywhere. Exams were approaching soon. Aahana wouldn't study anything at home because thanks to Wi-Fi and all the gadgets that kept her busy,she decided if she didn't wanna fail she will have to study in the college library for some days because that was the only way.

First day In the library,Aahana had just opened her book and after an hour of deciding what to study she was reading that chapter. But that was soon interrupted by a godly figure entering the library.

Seriously god? If these exams weren't an enough punishment.

Sitting in the same room as Shanaya was a tough task, sitting stable and not starting after every minute. This was some sort of punishment she thought. Shanaya in the library would affect everyone's GPA including Aahana.

Aahana and her friend choose to sit in a secluded corner away from Shanaya, away from all the staring boys.

Aahana and her friend Raj were so engrossed into studying. The were solving some database management problems. Just for once since she had entered the library Shanaya wasn't on her mind.

She could feel someone staring at her. And there she was Shanaya Singhania, sitting on the table right in front of her.Her friend Raj and Shanaya were sitting in the same position just on different tables. So Aahana could see every single bit of Shanaya. Smily and perfect.

"Hey pay attention.." Raj said.

"Umm.. sorry...yeah." I said.

Raj turned around and saw Shanaya,her head in her reference book. His expressions now matched mine from a few seconds ago.

"Oh wow...we better get to study today. How am I looking though? You know she knows me." Raj said.

"Shut up now and study pls." I said.

They went to the canteen later during their break. Canteen usually used to be crowded everyday at 1.30 pm but not today. Everyone was on a study leave so there were hardly any students around in the campus.

There she was again with her perfect hair and her perfect Booty, staring right at Aahana from one end of the canteen...which made Aahana choke on the noodles she was having.

"The sauce is too hot." Aahana explained to Raj.

The second half after the break went exactly similar to the first half. Constant staring from both the parties.

Some boys started hovering over to our table just to talk to Raj and solve all their doubts regarding the exam....just to see Shanaya. They were all here pretending and trying to get her attention. But Shanaya...that girl gave no fucks. Soon they went away after they didn't even get a look from her.

"They were here just to see her weren't they?" I said.

"Yeah" Raj said.

"I feel sad for her." I said.

"Hey Shanaya why don't you come sit with us and study. Aahana here has a GPA of 3.6 she'll help you." Raj said.

I nodded my head at her implying not to believe at what Raj was saying.

"And I'm not so bad myself.." Raj added.

"Don't disturb her." I said loud enough for her to hear it and smacked Raj's arm.

"Thanks but I don't think I'll be doing much of studying if I sit with you. I'm fine here...from a distance." Shanaya said biting her lip slightly and meeting my eyes.

Damn she was somebody else.

This continued for a week till the exam ended. Constant staring from both the parties.

During one of those days Aahana entered the girls bathroom that was on the fifth floor and there she was again. A teary eyed Shanaya struggling with something.

"Hey can you help me please." Shanaya said.

"Yeah sure. Why are your eyes watering. Someone broke your heart? " I said

Shit Aahana you've gone too far now she will hate you for sure.

"No I'm struggling with my lenses for some reason. Can you help me put it back on? " She said.

That's when Aahana gathered all the courage she had and stepped closer to Shanaya, examining her face closely,her eyes...

"Wow your eyes are green. Are these prescription lenses why are they brown?" I said.

"Yes my eyes are a shade of green and no these are not prescription lenses, they're brown because I wanted them to be." Shanaya said.

I agreed nodding my head and she moved closer to me, handing me one of her lenses and put it on. Even after I had put on the second lense for her the proximity between us was still the same and she was holding my arm. God she was holding my arm!

"So why are you wearing these?" I said.

"I don't think we're emotionally close enough for me to answer that." Shanaya said.

Ouch.

"Emotionally right...I'm sorry...I was just..." I said increasing the distance between us.

"Anyways thanks for the help. I have to go now" Shanaya said and kissed my cheek.

"No problem. See you later." I said and saw her walking towards the door.

"And Ms. Aahana Sharma nobody breaks my heart. I make sure to break theirs. So don't get attached." Shanaya said turning around just before exiting the door.
