「c h a p t e r - s i x」

"'How To Swim?!'"

"MOOOOOM!!" you yelled out your door. "MOOO-"

A hand went over your mouth. It was Aoki's.

"Hey Shiru," he asked.

You looked into his eyes since his hand was over your mouth. "Hmm?"

"Shut up," he simply put. You pushed off his hand and shouted for him to shut up too.

He laughed at your outburst. "Actually, I came to tell you dinner's ready."

You were about to speak but your brother answered your unspoken question, "Saba shioyaki, miso soup, nikujaga, sunomono, and genmai."

"You're a holy one, Aocchin. Off we go!" You marched with Aoki downstairs.

"I got the Shiru," Aoki said to your mom as he sat down low. 

You sat across from him with your mother on the right, dad on the left. You ate a piece of the grilled mackerel, or saba shioyaki.

"So (Y/n) dear, did you see the gift I left you?" your mother said after taking some cucumber. 

That book shot back into your head. "I did actually. Thank you and whatever, but did you get that while I was at school even though I could've said no?" you asked. 

Aoki spit out some of his soup's broth and choked for a second. "Said no to what?"

Your mom smiled to Aoki and told him the 'good news.' "Well Aoki sweetie. Good news. (Y/n) is going to be on your swimming team!"

Aoki eyes widen with excitement and he smiled. You slumped and frowned. 

Aoki grabbed your hand. "C'mon! Bye we're going to that pool from a long time ago!" Aoki quickly said before running upstairs.

He stopped at his door and let go of your hand. "Go get ready to swim, no buts."

You laughed inside as Aoki went inside his room.  You went to your room and shut the door. You went to your desk and opened the light blue bag. There was a black and (f/c) one-piece, (f/c) goggles, and a black swimming cap with a printed white seal on the side. 

You smiled and started getting changed. Over your bathing suit, you put on a plain (s/f/c) sundress. You slipped on black ballet flats, took the light blue bag with the cap and goggles and went outside your room to see your brother. 

"Ready?"

You nodded confidently. "Bet you can't beat me, Aocchin!"

You ran down the stairs and outside. Your brother followed after.

"Yeah. I won, Aocchin. Bow down," you said.

"Follow me. I talked to Sasabe-san, the coach of some of kids in your class, who said we could borrow the pool when no one else was," Aoki explained as he started running.

You began running too and asked nonchalantly, "You planned ahead too?"

"Yep!"

You face-palmed with your free, left hand and sighed. 

After about ten minutes of stopping and running, you made it to the place you were earlier. 

Hey wait...

"I knew this place was familiar!" you exclaimed.

Aoki looked at you and tilted his head. "You were here?"

"Ah well kinda. I was here for a 'lil after school," you told him while scratching the back of your neck. 

"Oh that's great. Come on! We don't have all night!"
