Crystal's P.O.V
Well of course he has a life! I think, mad at myself. He's not just gonna sit around all day like I do.
Maybe if I come back tomorrow he'll be here...

Rhys' P.O.V
I look around, wincing as the thrumming music pounds a rhythm into my head. I'm getting a headache, and I've been here for a total of 30 seconds.
"Hey, Rhys, my man!" Damian claps a hand over my shoulders.
I can smell the alcohol on his breath. The pungent smell reeks, and I wrinkle my nose in distaste.
The party only officially started a half hour ago, and he's already drunk.
"Happy birthday," I mutter, knowing Damian will forget everything that's happened in the party because he's so wasted.
"Wanna drink?" He slurs.
My eye twitches. He knows I don't drink, but when he's intoxicated, Damian tends to "forget" things.
I decline politely.
"C'mon man, let's rock this par-tay!!!"

An hour later, I'm sitting in a corner of Damian's massive house, swirling a glass of water in my hand.
I can still hear the beat of the vibrant music, but its enough to cover up Delphina's steps.
She slyly sneaks up behind me and wraps an arm around my neck.
"Go away," I say crossly. "You know I'm not interested."
Delphina doesn't let up. She tries to plop herself into my lap, but honestly, she's a terrible person, and not being able to take it anymore, I up and leave the party. Its not like as if Damian will looking for me anytime soon. The last time I saw him, he had 3 girls hanging off his arms.
I inhale a breath of cool air, and decide to head home. I think I've had enough fun for one day. I snort. As if.
I hear clip clopping behind me, and I whirl around.
"Delphina, I told you I don't wanna be your boyfriend!" I shout, exasperated.
"Thought it was worth a shot," she casually exclaims, trying to play it off.
I shake my head in annoyance.
"Such a nuisance," I grumble, walking away. Everybody seems to love riling me up. Not that it bothers me.
Oh, who am I kidding?!

Crystal's P.O.V
I walk along the park's path, vaguely noting the scenery. Rhys hasn't been here in awhile. As in, 2 days. Which feels like forever to me. The story of my life: waiting. I try to quell my disappointment, but it ends up funneling out in a sigh. As I turn, ready to get home for the day, I catch sight of Rhys sitting on the park bench.
"You're here!" I cry in delight, rushing up to him.
"That I am," he responds warmly.
"I missed you!" I blurt out, then blush as I realize what I just said.
Me and my big mouth.
Gladly, Rhys just looks amused.
I shift, looking at the ground as I wait for his imminent reply.
Peeking up at him through my lashes, I see his hazel eyes glittering, and his mouth twitching. When I fully look him in the eye, he bursts out laughing.
I just scowl.
"There's no need to be bashful. Everyone says weird things sometimes," he chuckles.
I like his laugh. It's like warm chocolate over caramel.
Wait... Where did THAT thought come from?!
I frown, then turn away.
"Don't leave," Rhys grabs my arm. "I didn't mean to make fun of you."
Looking at his mesmerizing eyes, I cave.
"Ok..."
"Sit," Rhys tugs on my arm and I collapse next to him on the bench.
"Sooo. Do you have any siblings?" I ask.
"Yeah. A sister. Her name is Arelina." His eyes hold a visible shadow when he mentions her, but I don't pry.
"I'm an only child," I admit.
"Must be nice," Rhys scowls.
"I get lonely sometimes. Actually, I'm pretty much lonely all the time," I confess.
Rhys looks at me with gentle eyes.
"Well, I'm here now."
I stare up at him, a bit surprised.
"Thank you," I murmur.
A bit of my pain chased away, by this kind boy, who has generously offered his friendship.
Maybe life isn't so hopeless after all.

Rhys' P.O.V

Crystal must not have many friends if she "missed me". It seems silly, since she's such a nice person. I shake my head.

"What's on your mind, son?" My father asks.

"Just thinking," I respond.

Arelina looks at me in concern, and I almost scowl. She's gone through so much, and she's worried about ME? I clench my fist, trying to bury the anger rising up like a phoenix through the flames, but it engulfs me, and all I see is red. I jump up, and dash outside, to burn off my fury, as best I can, while sprinting through the forest, and letting the wild calm me down.

Crystal's P.O.V

I shiver. Autumn is here, and I forgot to bring a sweater to the beach. The wind howls like a banshee, screeching; a maniac unleashed. I rub my hands over my arms, but the chill doesn't fade. I sigh. I feel like my allotted number of sighs should have been used up by now, but I guess not. Canting my head to the side, I hear soft footsteps approaching, and am surprised to see Rhys a few feet away. His expression shows bafflement as well, as to which I'm glad to see. My lips quirk up in a soft smile. Good to know he's not stalking me... Or maybe he's just a good actor. I brush the thought away, and slowly meet him.

"Hey," Rhys murmurs. "You usually come here too?"

"Yeah. Funnily enough, we're meeting each other everywhere," I chuckle.

"Well, I wouldn't exactly say everywhere," he scoffs.

"Close enough, though. I don't go to too many places anyways," I sigh. Again.

"Ready for school?" Rhys questions.

" No!"

He laughs. I can tell he's not ready either by the way his face tenses up.
"Not fun, huh?" He jokes.

"So lonely," I groan.

"So annoying," he returns.

"But at least you have friends, right?" I demand.

"Well yeah," he sounds surprised. "Cmon, you don't have even a couple of friends?"

"Nope!" I pop the p 'enthusiastically'.

"Well," Rhys states. "That's a downer!"

Rhys' P.O.V

I think of the girl who has no friends, lonely and sad. If only I could be her friend, even for a day, and take her pain away.
