I. The End At The Beginning

I was never afraid of death or the enigmatic thought of the afterlife, I welcomed it with open mind, thinking of it almost daily. I never understood why people fought so much to preserve life when they would be so close to peace. The end of the story is the same for everyone, and at some point, you will have to meet that old friend so what was the point of hiding? What would I even do when it came, or when the world would end? Would I be old enough to cash my retirement money and go buy a yacht or finally go steal that kitten in the window I wanted when I was younger but couldn't get because I had no money? Maybe I would say goodbye to my mother one last time. I always asked myself what I would do. It's an easy question that seems to never have an answer but if I had to choose, I guess I would want to fall in love one last time.

The aroma of alcohol was strong as I walked through huddles of men and women moving to the pounding music. The club had a cozy but sexy atmosphere with white armchairs, circular tables, and red lights. Rap music pumped through the speakers and mingled with the sounds of laughter and clinking drinks.

Making my way to the bar, I ordered my usual, a Shirley Temple with extra ice. The bartender quickly took my order and gave me a light smile as I waited, but made no offer of conversation. Grabbing my drink, I walked through more people, some hands running over my backside and shoulders as I slipped through, trying to find a table to sit at. After setting the drink down on a coaster, I settled in to the plush white couch, swirling the red cherry bobbing in my drink while I aimlessly looked around.

Eli scanned the crowd, his eyes running over the different shapes and sizes of the dancing figures. Black dresses, sequined outfits, all thin or athletic. He was bored, seeing it all, done it all, until he spotted a red figure that was sitting om the couch next to him. His heart thudded in... well he couldn't tell if it was anticipation or excitement or both. He stared at her, trying to see if she would respond to his intensity. Maybe this was the girl! Maybe she would lead him home. Well, he could stand to try one more time, then.

She slowly turned her head, probably from the two holes he stared into her back, and eventually looked at him. As their eyes met, the relief of an end to a lifetime of disasters and countless failed searches spread through his chest. Eli had finally found his way back, this woman would be his way home, he could feel it. She had raven hair, glowing brown skin at a solid five foot nine. As his eyes narrowed downward and landed on her butt, what he saw impressed him. Although big, it was round and tight, making him think of how she must have worked at it. Imagining her sweating while squatting got him to shift a bit in his seat. That red dress was so damn sexy, he wondered what her face would look like as he squeezed it.

'Phoenix you're better now, I thought, the old you would stand up and go tell those women who were taking shit to shut the hell up, buuut, you are a reformed, mature woman now.' They looked ridiculously uncomfortable shoved into the tight dresses anyway but that's what the standard of beauty was now.

Looking away, I could smell a musky and earthy scent coming from the corner booth, how I could smell it that well, I didn't know, but the source of it had to be good. Deciding to take a quick look, my thoughts were more than confirmed.

Wow. Just... Goodness.

He was very tall with a powerfully muscular body poured inside a fitted black shirt and matching pants. Moving to sipping my drink, which I was going to need more of if he was going to sit there lookin' like that, I tried to take a sneaky but short look at him. I could instantly tell he was not from the area. Someone like him would have made a name for themselves in this chatty town. He looked like he was torn straight out of a magazine. As I quickly scanned the crowd, enviously watching the women who danced with a partner, and felt the feeling of longing to be held and touched while swaying to a song spread through me. Time for a drink, girl.
