Won't Say I'm In Love (Ladybug)

It was an unsettling sight to walk into, finding her leader on the floor of their bathroom, sobbing quietly to herself.

Blake's first reaction was to drop the books she was carrying and rush to the side Ruby, who was furiously wiping away her tears. Her face was flushed red, her bright silver eyes now puffy and dull with sadness.

"Ruby? What's wrong?" She hesitantly pressed a hand on her forehead, checking her temperature. The younger girl signed and offered her a half smile.

"It's not a fever." Ruby groaned as she buried her head on hands. Blake nodded and pulled away embarrassed. She sat next to her instead and quietly spoke up instead.

"Do you think you can tell me what's wrong so I could help you?"

Ruby sighed, running her hands through her hair.

"We had agreed on a long distance relationship after I left Signal. We were going good for a while, sending letter and video chatting when our schedules lined up. I though things were going great," Ruby laughed bitterly, "But I found out my now ex-girlfriend was cheating on me after I left Signal. All along! I had to hear it from Tara Mason, who heard it from Dune Burkett, who heard it from Russet twins, who posted the whole thing online. Now I'm the laughing stocking over there because apparently everyone knew, even my own supposed friends and nobody bothered to tell me. I had find out by someone tagging me in the post Blake! In a post! I feel so stupid."

Blake cringed slightly. That was definitely not something someone would want to find out online and Blake knew first hand what her leader might've been feeling.

"I'm sorry about that. That sounds horrible, especially everyone knowing but you."

"I know!" Ruby threw her hand up in frustration. Blake blinked at the furious tone in her voice, she rarely ever saw Ruby so angry and upset.

"I'm sorry Blake, it's just so frustrating and I don't really know what to do right now, or even process all this." Her shoulders sagged as Blake smiled softly at her.

"You can take it one step at a time. It won't be easy but you have us to help you and you know how Yang is." She nudged the shorter girl who snorted.

"Maybe. Although I think it's best we don't tell her just yet. She might be too tempted to go down to Signal and find her and deal with it herself." She giggled. Blake grinned and nodded.

"Of course. You have us." You have me, her thoughts whispered quietly. She nudged them back as they continued to sit in silence together.

Yang's voice rang in the back of her mind, teasing her of the long, drawn out fight she'd have with herself about all the unsaid feelings she had about her leader.

More than once she'd encourage the Faunus to speak up on her feelings but Blake refused, she had enough on her plate already and plus, she didn't know if the younger girl had felt the same way.

She figured especially now that Ruby had a taste of heartbreak, she wouldn't be dating anybody anytime soon.

But..

Her cheeks flushed red at the thought she hurried to push away. No, now was not the time to be selfish, Ruby needed her now.

She cleared her throat.

"You're a very beautiful person Ruby, anybody would be lucky to have you. I know right now it doesn't feel like it, but you will get through this more stronger and better than before. You'll learn to love somebody again and someone will love you more than that jerk."

"And if I don't?"

Blake smiled as she wiped the last of Ruby's tears staining her cheeks.

"Oh I'm sure you will, and someone will love you better than your ex." She said as she helped the shorter girl up.

They stood in silence for who knows how long before Blake could feel herself grow nervous.

"Well," Ruby smiled at her, the light coming back into her eyes, "here's hoping it's someone like you."

Blake's brows shot up as the younger girl giggled and walked out the dorm room, the Faunus could feel her cheeks turning a bright shade of red.

So maybe Yang was right about a couple things, but Blake would never admit it. She didn't need to give her teammate more fuel.

No, she mused to herself, at least out loud, I won't say I'm in love.
