Pain radiated from every part of Ebony's body.  She lay curled in the corner of the room, the withdrawal from whatever she'd stumbled into in the forest sending spasm of pain, cold sweats and nausea through her body.  Her hands shook for no reason and she could barely roll herself over so she didn't choke on her own vomit, not that there was much for her to vomit anymore.  The first two times seemed to have cleaned her stomach out.

A fresh wave of pain seared through her limbs and she cried out in agony as the hard stone vanished beneath her and she felt a presence over her shoulder..

I cannot access the source of your pain my dear. The robed woman’s voice came through in her mind.  Her voice sounded like it there was a wall out water between them.

Ebony looked up at her, but she was hazy.  The woman knelt in front of her, with her furrowed eyebrows and her hand reaching out for her.  She could see it brushing her cheek, but the corresponding feeling of touch didn’t exist.

Where are you physically?

"I, I, I don’t know,” Ebony muttered as a wave of agony rolled through her.  Her back arched up and she cried out, rolling onto her back. Finally falling back, she gasped for air and her gag reflex kicked in.

I’m so sorry, daughter.  I cannot help alleviate your pain. The woman said.

Then a voice Ebony would never forget; a voice she heard every night before she went to bed; the voice she heard every morning proclaiming her beauty. “Oh, I did not realize you were with someone, I can go.”

Your Lordship, stay, please.  I cannot do much for her right now.

“Gabe?” she whispered, lifting her head nausea swept through her.

“Ebony!” his cry of despair brought a tear to her eye as he ran over to her and tried to grab her.  His hands passed right through her. “Why?”

“Lucifer has me somewhere, there’s something stopping me from completely--AH!”  As the spasm left, she lay gasping and shaking. She reached up, her arm shaking from the exertion and touched Gabriel's cheek, but felt nothing at all. “I miss you so much.”

“I’m doing my best to find you,” he said.

“How?”

“Remember that man, that found you?”

Ebony felt her lips curl up into a soft smile. “Drake,” she whispered.

Gabriel’s nose crinkled up at the mention of Drake, she couldn’t sense his emotion but it didn’t take a rocket scientist to know he didn’t like Drake. “Yeah, him.  He contacted me and we are coming to get you.  Just hang in there.”

A tear streaked down her face and he reached to wipe it from her cheek.  She saw the anguish in his eyes when he couldn’t touch her, when his finger went through her cheek.  Pain exploded into her stomach, but this time the pain didn’t radiate from every part of her being, it was centralized, localized in one spot.

Gabriel and the garden vanished in an instant and she saw two figures above her.  They wore black robes and she couldn’t see their faces, but their hands told her everything she needed to know.  Skeletal hands closed around her arms and hauled her to her feet.  Her body, slick with sweat, cause them to tighten their grip, the joints between the bones pinching her arms as they dragged her out of the room.
