4 Years Later
"Young Master please wake up, Young Master!"
I moaned in discomfort hoping she will go away. "Mary please let me sleep. I'm exhausted!" as I said turning around and facing the other side of the bed.
"But Master, Ashton h-h-he's having h-h-high fever a-a-a-and I think we need to call a doctor" Mary said shaking me and slightly shuttering. My head shot up and any sign of sleepiness and tiredness left me as I heard that my baby was having high fever. I immediately went out of the bed, wore a random shirt and went running to his room without any care with Mary hot on my heals.
"But he was perfectly fine until yesterday!" I exclaimed slightly panicked.
"No dear he had little fever yesterday but madam said it was no big deal so we didn't think about it" Mary said sadly looking at the floor.
"WHAT! But when I asked her about him she said he was fine!" I said angrily, and asked "Okay where is she now, I didn't see her when I reached."
She hesitated before saying "Madam have meeting in London so she left early in the morning" as she was frightened also.
"But she didn't even tell me! How could she!" I murmured angrily as I reached his room.
When I reached his room my heart clenched at the sight of him. Ashton was lying there under the sheets, looking very pale and weak. I instantly went to him and gently took him in my arms while checking his forehead. He really has a high fever as his skin was literally burning and his teeth were shattering .
"Did you check his fever?" I asked looking again at Mary still having him in my arms. Mary was worried about him and it was written on her face as she was slightly pale.
"Yes Master. 101 degrees Fahrenheit" she said.
"We need a doc right now. Did you call him?"
"Yes I told Polly to call him"
"Okay. POLLY! POLLY! Come here please" I shouted for Polly, I was getting more worried about my son.
Polly came quickly and said "Sir", it was evident she came running as she was slightly panting. She was also worried about my son.
"Did you call the Doc?" I asked her.
"Yes I did and he said he is on the way", she informed.
"Good job", I said less worried that doctor was coming and also thanked them for looking after my son and told them not to worry about him. I instructed them to "Go and do their jobs" as I was there to take care of my son.
"Okay dear but if you need anything just call for us. Okay.", Mary requested.
"Yes. I'll call you when required; now you guys can go". Mary half-smiled and Polly nodded. After a while there was a knock on the door.
I said "Come in".
Doctor Takayuki Kirishima entered. I knew Mary or Polly let him in. I met Takayuki when we were in middle school. He was weird and I was crazy and that made us bond. We were best friends since then.
"Sorry Miller I'm a little late. I have been informed that he has a fever. Right?", Takayuki asked while checking Aston and putting a thermometer in his mouth for checking his temperature. And I was relieved that Takayuki was here.
After 5 minutes he pulled it out of his mouth to check his temperature. "Alright, 101. That's high but no need to worry, but was he okay yesterday? he inquired concerned about Ashton.
"No he had little fever but I also came to know about it today. I was out on a business trip" I informed him hoping he won't ask much now.
"Okay then. I am giving him medicines then. And don't worry he'll be alright" he said.
After 4 hours
"Now let's check your evil fever", Takayuki said excitedly hoping to lighten the mood in the room and making my beautiful baby smiling in the process. Again putting thermometer in his mouth.
"Yeah. We check it now" Ashton said in his baby voice equally excited.
"Great. It's 97.9 degree now. Yay! we defeated the evil". Takayuki said and they high-fived. I sighed in relief. What a day! The whole day Takayuki treated him patiently and now it's 5:30 in the afternoon. And now it was his time to leave.
"Okay big boy I have to go now but promise me you will sleep otherwise the evil fever will attack you again" Takayuki said seriously looking directly in his eyes and Ashton repeatedly nodded like an obedient child. My little son. Suddenly I was feeling tired from the day's event I seriously need sleep.
"Bye uncle"
"Bye big boy" said Takayuki as we were leaving his room. When we're outside I thanked him.
"Don't worry, it's my duty. But where is Stacy? I didn't see her whole day" he asked concerned.
I hesitated before saying, "she's at work" and hoping he won't pry much about it.
"But how I mean I don't want to pry but if she is his mother then why she isn't here?" , he said thinking that may be something was wrong as I understand his worries for my son's future.
"Yeah but she went to London yesterday, as she has a big meeting" I said trying to ease his worries.
"Okay. Look Ash really needs his mother at this stage. He is only 3."he said worrying about Ashton
"Yes I understand. You're right. So how are you. And how's going with Aira", I asked him teasingly, skillfully changing the subject and hoping he won't catch that. I know about Aira and she is his long time crush.
He slightly blushed and said "You know I asked her for another date and she finally agreed". They are so good for each other I hope they'll make it till the end.
"Oh man congrats! Please don't mess it up like last time" teased him. And hoping he'd settle down soon.
"Oh no I'm prepared this time", he said seriously maybe he is serious about her.
"I just hope you settle down soon. You are getting old you know", I said laughing a little. He scowled and showed me his finger.
"We are same age you dumbass", he said and I laughed.
"Okay I have some patients waiting for me in the hospital so take care of Ashton and see you later"
"Yeah bye and all the best", I said while seeing him to the door.
And he said "Thanks" and left in his car.
When I reached to Ashton's room I saw him fast asleep. I kissed his head and left him wishing "Good night little man" . I also left the door open so I'll know if he'd need me at night or not.
The whole night I was wondering one thing why Stacy lied to me? And I'm noticing it for quite a time that she has been avoiding and ignoring him completely. I have to ask her about this new attitude towards him. Ashton really needs a mom. And really hope it was nothing more than this.
I slept that hoping for the best to happen and hoping I was wrong about whatever negative thought I had been having.
